CFWT to Host Göttingen University M.Sc. Students for Mazumbai Forest Management Plan Project

The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism (CFWT) of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) will host a group of M.Sc. students in Tropical and International Forestry (TIF) from the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology, Georg-August-University Göttingen, Germany, from 15th October to 11th November 2026.

During their stay, the students will prepare a Forest Management Plan (FMP) for Mazumbai Forest Reserve as part of their International Students’ Project 2026.

About the Project

The project is part of the multidisciplinary module “Development of a Forest Region,” a central component and academic requirement of the students’ M.Sc. programme. Through this module, students are trained to work together to develop a joint, concise forest management plan for a real forest area.

The Visiting Team

The team comprises 20 M.Sc. students, two professors and three scientific assistants from Georg-August-University Göttingen.

Programme of the Visit

  • 15th October 2026: Arrival in Morogoro.
  • 16th October 2026: Introductory meeting with the College, where the team will present its objectives and work plan.
  • 18th October 2026: Departure to Mazumbai Forest Reserve, where the team will spend the rest of the visit until 11th November 2026.
