Biography
\n<\/strong>Dr. Paulo J. Lyimo is a Senior Lecturer and Biodiversity Conservationist working with the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Dr. Lyimo obtained a BSc. (Forestry) degree, MSc. (Ecosystem Science and Management<\/a>) and Ph.D. in Forest Science and Climate Change from the Sokoine University of Agriculture<\/a> in 2013, 2016 and 2021, respectively. Dr. Lyimo served as a Research Assistant for the REDD+<\/a> PILOT PROJECT, after completing his BSc. The project is titled \u201cEnhancing Tanzanian Capacity to Deliver Short- and Long-Term Data on Forest Carbon Stock<\/a> across the Country\u201d. \u00a0The main project objective was to contribute core data to the Tanzanian national<\/a> Monitoring, Reporting and Verification system by building Tanzanian capacity to deliver short- and long-term data on forest carbon stocks across the country. Dr. Lyimo had the responsibility of designing data<\/a> collection tools, collecting data in the field, data analysis and report writing (2013-2014). Dr. Lyimo is currently a Senior Lecturer, Researcher and Consultant in the Department of Ecosystems and Conservation<\/a>, at the Sokoine University of Agriculture mainly working on ecosystem health, biodiversity and climate change. He participated in several activities on the REDD+ Readiness Preparation Phase, Implementation Phase\/Scaling up Phase and Result-based Payment Phase. Also, Dr. Lyimo participated in several activities commissioned by the Wildlife Conservation<\/a> Society aiming at safeguarding ecosystems for nature and people in the Southern Highland of Tanzania. Amongst the activities was to identify the capacity of Local Communities<\/a>, Community-Based Organizations and non-governmental organizations. Lastly, Dr. Lyimo is a technical and administrative contact of Global Biodiversity Information Facility<\/a> (GBIF) at the Sokoine University of Agriculture. He is very active and participatory in the mobilization and publishing of biodiversity data<\/a> which enabled him to publish a total of 18 datasets in the GBIF portal.<\/p>\n
