It is assumed that any candidate who has met the entry requirements (stipulated in section 10) will have acquired competencies and knowledge in <a title=\"Job vacancies at St. Francis University College of Health and Allied Sciences (SFUCHAS)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/job-vacancies-at-st-francis-university-college-of-health-and-allied-sciences-sfuchas\">science subjects and allied<\/a> fields to undertake the BSc Forestry training. Where there is a deficiency, SUA regulations will apply and a candidate may be required to undertake remedial courses before being allowed to register for the programme.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES AND ASSOCIATED ASSESSMENT CRITERIA<br \/>\n<\/strong>Regulations related to the course and special project evaluation shall be as per General University Examination Regulations and Guidelines for Undergraduate and Non-Degree Programmes of the Sokoine University of Agriculture where the candidate is expected to pass all courses and have a minimum of 60 credits (600 \u2018NOTIONAL\u2019 OR \u2018AVERAGE LEARNING\u2019 hours) per semester. To graduate with a degree of BSc. Forestry a student must have a minimum of 360 credits (3600 \u2018NOTIONAL\u2019 OR \u2018AVERAGE LEARNING\u2019 hours). The minimum time for full time students to complete their degree programme shall be six semesters while part-time students will be allowed to spend up to but not more than 12 semesters. Assessment criteria for various components of examinations shall be as per SUA general regulations and guidelines. Candidates who have completed year 2 or 3 but could not meet the requirement for a degree due to various reasons shall be given HIGHER DIPLOMA as an exit award.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT<br \/>\n<\/strong>Formative, summative and integrated learning assessments will be used to evaluate the knowledge and understanding of students in the BSc Forestry programme. Formative assessments shall include assignments, quizzes, presentations, practicals, training and Research. The summative evaluation shall include tests and final examinations. Written class examinations (class tests and end-of-semester examinations) are the principal method of assessment for knowledge and understanding in most courses in all years. Timed essays, laboratory and <a title=\"Botany and Ecology Field Practical Training at Saadani National Park\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/botany-and-ecology-field-practical-training-at-saadani-national-park\">field practical<\/a> reports and other coursework assignments delivered verbally, written or both, comprise 40% of the final course mark. The end-of-semester examinations carry 60%. At the end of the semester for each course, an examination of 3 hours shall be given to students.
