Forestry believes and understand that the Sokoine University of Agriculture provides for the establishment of other students organizations as stipulated in the Sokoine university of Agriculture charter, 2007<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOW THEREFORE<\/strong>, students of Bachelor of Science, forestry have found their Association, the Tanzania forestry students\u2019 association through which forestry interests will be promoted together with improving relationships with similar existing associations and or clubs within and or outside the Sokoine University of Agriculture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VISION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be among the communities emphasizing trees for conservation for the health world<\/p>\n<p><strong>MISSION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TFSA shall engage in awareness creation activities for students and the community around, about the importance of the forestry sector in conservation for the health world. Also, TFSA shall participate in forestry activities, for the sustainability of forests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>INTERPRETATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>AGM<\/strong>\u00a0means Annual General Meeting<\/p>\n<p><strong>Associate member<\/strong>\u00a0means a person with limited or subordinate membership of an Association<\/p>\n<p><strong>Association<\/strong>\u00a0means Tanzania Forestry Students\u2019 Association (TFSA)<\/p>\n<p><strong>OGM<\/strong>\u00a0means Ordinary General Meeting<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUASO<\/strong>\u00a0means Sokoine University of Agriculture Students\u2019 organization<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>NAME<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>1.1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The name of the charitable Association shall be \u201cThe Tanzania Forestry Students\u2019 Association\u201d hereinafter referred to shortly as TFSA<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSOCIATION<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>2.1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To promote and encourage an interest in the conservation and<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>management of Forests within and outside the Sokoine University of Agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>2.2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To collect and disseminate information relating to Forestry through<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a)Publication e.g. newsletter, leaflets etc.<\/li>\n<li>b)Invite guest speakers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>2.3\u00a0\u00a0To form a forum for all Forestry students at the Sokoine University of Agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>2.4\u00a0\u00a0To promote and encourage associations and or clubs within and or outside the Sokoine University of Agriculture to mutually benefit Forest Conservation, education, research and management.<\/p>\n<p>2.5\u00a0\u00a0To liaise with similar existing associations and or clubs within and or Outside the Sokoine University of Agriculture to mutually benefit Forest Conservation, education, research, and management.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>These activities shall be as follows:<\/p>\n<p>3.1\u00a0\u00a0Engage in fundraising activities that the association may deem fit.<\/p>\n<p>3.2\u00a0\u00a0Organize Forestry study and tours to members to areas such as Museums, Herbariums, Botanical gardens and Nature Reserves in order to learn, to identify specimens, organisms, and plants or read more information.<\/p>\n<p>3.3\u00a0\u00a0Participate in National tree planting day, meetings, seminars, workshops or conferences to exchange ideas and information.<\/p>\n<p>3.4\u00a0\u00a0To engage in Forestry extension education through video shows, slide shows, exhibitions, and publications.<\/p>\n<p>3.5\u00a0\u00a0Engage in preparation and sales of professional materials e.g. pens, t-shirts, caps with Associational emblem<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>STATUS AND REGISTERED OFFICE OF THE ASSOCIATION.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>4.1\u00a0\u00a0The registered office shall be on the campuses of the Sokoine University of Agriculture<\/p>\n<p>4.2\u00a0\u00a0The Association shall be a non-profit Forestry Students\u2019 professional organization, under the Sokoine University of Agriculture students\u2019 organization (SUASO) pursuant to Act NO.6 of 1984.<\/p>\n<p>4.3\u00a0\u00a0The Association shall be managed by the executive committee (EC) in accordance with the provision of this constitution and the written laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>5.1\u00a0\u00a0Eligible member is all Forestry students at Sokoine University of Agriculture, and other related certificate or college institutions.<\/p>\n<p>5.2\u00a0\u00a0A membership is also open to former members (Associate members).<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong>PRIVILEGES<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>6.1\u00a0\u00a0All full members shall be entitled to the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a)Vote at general meetings.<\/li>\n<li>b)Be present and participate in the association\u2019s activities.<\/li>\n<li>c)Hold office in the association when elected<\/li>\n<li>d)Receive at free or at a cost some copies of publication of the association.<\/li>\n<li>e)Be elected as leader<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>6.2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Associates members shall be entitled to privileges described in 6.1 except to vote or to be voted<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><strong>LIABILITY OF FULL MEMBERSHIP<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>7.1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Full members shall subscribe to the association\u2019s fund annually at such times and according to the rate at the AGM shall be set from time to time<\/p>\n<p>7.2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Any member shall not be in arrears for the current year for one month and shall cease to be entitled to privilege under section (6.1) above until payment is done.<\/p>\n<p>7.3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0All members at liberty are able to contribute to exigencies as asked by the association\u2019s officers or EC.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><strong>CESSATION OF MEMBERSHIP<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Any member shall cease to be a member of the Association in the event of any of the following:<\/p>\n<p>8.1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Death<\/p>\n<p>8.2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Discontinued from studies<\/p>\n<p>8.3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Dismissal from the University or the Association by the EC and approved later by AGM or OGM<\/p>\n<p>8.4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Resignation<\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li><strong>FINANCIAL SOURCES<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Finance of the association shall depend upon the following sources.<\/p>\n<p>9.1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Membership fee from its members<\/p>\n<p>9.2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Voluntary donation from individuals, companies, and local and foreign donors<\/p>\n<p>9.3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Income generated from its activities, projects of the association<\/p>\n<p>9.4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Fund rising of the association<\/p>\n<p>9.5. Grants requested from funding organizations for projects<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li><strong>OFFICE BEARERS<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>10.1.\u00a0\u00a0The association through the annual general meeting shall elect the following leaders.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a)Chairperson<\/li>\n<li>b)Vice Chairperson<\/li>\n<li>c)General Secretary<\/li>\n<li>d)Deputy General Secretary<\/li>\n<li>e)Treasurer<\/li>\n<li>f)Deputy Treasurer<\/li>\n<li>g)Communication\/information officer<\/li>\n<li>h)International relation officer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>10.2.\u00a0\u00a0The officers can hold office for two consecutive years and shall not hold the same office for more than two consecutive terms.<\/p>\n<p>10.3.\u00a0\u00a0Election of position in 10.1 above shall be in the following conditions.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a)If the chairperson is from the 4<sup>th<\/sup> semester, then the secretary general shall be from the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> semester or vice versa<\/li>\n<li>b)The remaining posts (10.1 above) shall be free to any member irrespective of any year of study.<\/li>\n<li>c)The election shall be held in 2<sup>nd<\/sup> semester of a particular academic year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>10.4.\u00a0\u00a0Duties of the officers<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a)Chairperson<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall preside at meetings and shall have a casting vote.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall convene special and emergency meetings on deemed necessary<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>iii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall be the main spokesman of the association<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall be one of the signatories<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>b)Vice-chairperson<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall assume the duties of the chairperson in his\/her absence<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall assist with duties of the chairperson<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>c)General Secretary<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall deal with all the correspondence of the association<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall keep records of all activities of the association<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>iii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall give a full report on the association at the Annual General Meeting<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall be responsible for convening meetings<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall be one of the signatories<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall attend and keep the records of all the meeting<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>d)Deputy General Secretary<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall assume all duties of the General Secretary in his\/her absence<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall assist with the duties of the General Secretary<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>e)Treasurer<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall be responsible for the proper accounting of all members belonging to the association.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall together with one or two other signatories sign and issue all cheques<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>iii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall keep accounts records of Association activities<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall give a full report on the association accounts at the Annual General Meeting<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall be responsible for the orderly procurement of goods and services and the daily recording of receipts and expenditures.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>f)Deputy Treasurer<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall assume all duties of the treasure in his\/her absence<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall assist the duties of the treasurer<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>g)Communication\/information officer<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall seek, provide and publish information about an association in accordance with the association regulations<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall be communicating with the General Secretary in information relating to issues<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>h)International relation officer<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall seek, link and establish relationships with other related international Associations.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall seek sponsors<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>iii.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Shall be communicating with the General Secretary regarding information relating to issues<\/p>\n<ol start=\"11\">\n<li><strong>THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>11.1.\u00a0\u00a0Shall comprise of the following<\/p>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li>a)Officers (sect. 10.1 above)<\/li>\n<li>b)Nine representatives, three elected from each respective semester, one of whom shall be a woman and one disabled student.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>11.2.\u00a0\u00a0Neither officer nor a member of EC shall receive any remuneration but shall be entitled to repayment of any financial outlays incurred by them in the performance of their duties.<\/p>\n<p>11.3.\u00a0\u00a0The executive committee member shall cease to hold office if she\/he does not attend without reasonable cause for two consecutive meetings of the EC. The EC shall co-opt another member who will be confirmed during either AGM or OGM<\/p>\n<ol start=\"12\">\n<li><strong>FUNCTION OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>12.1.\u00a0\u00a0Plan policies of the association capable of realizing the outlined objectives<\/p>\n<p>12.2.\u00a0\u00a0Plan for holding meetings, seminars, workshops, or association activities relating to the objectives<\/p>\n<p>12.3.\u00a0\u00a0Approval of the budget and its final accounts<\/p>\n<p>12.4.\u00a0\u00a0Plan for collecting donations, grants, and endowments from individuals, establishment\u2019s donors, institutions etc.<\/p>\n<p>12.5.\u00a0\u00a0Open and maintain in the name of the association Bank Account(s) at a such bank(s) as they shall decide and pay or cause to be paid any monies of the Association funds to the credit or deposit with any bank(s) and mandates thereof.<\/p>\n<p>12.6.\u00a0\u00a0To recommend a patron for the Association at AGM or OGM<\/p>\n<p>12.7.\u00a0\u00a0To pass resolutions and make decisions on urgent matters and such matters which later shall be rectified either in AGM or OGM<\/p>\n<p>12.8.\u00a0\u00a0To do all such lawful things or shall further confine to the objectives of the association<\/p>\n<p>12.9.\u00a0\u00a0EC shall be required to hold at least four (4) meetings annually. Its quorum shall be \u00be of its members<\/p>\n<ol start=\"13\">\n<li><strong>MEETINGS OF THE ASSOCIATION<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>13.1.\u00a0\u00a0Annual General Meeting did once per academic year.<\/p>\n<p>13.2.\u00a0\u00a0Ordinary General Meeting. This will be called by the Secretary-General to discuss the internal affairs of the association after consultation with the chairperson<\/p>\n<p>13.3.\u00a0\u00a0Extra Ordinary General meeting- This shall be called by either<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a)The Secretary-General<\/li>\n<li>b)On the instruction of the EC<\/li>\n<li>c)On the instruction of the Chairperson<\/li>\n<li>d)Or request to the Chairperson by five members of the EC or at least fifty (50) voting members<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>13.4.\u00a0\u00a0All meetings of the association shall be presided over by the chairperson or in his\/her absence the vice-chairperson or in case both are absent the meeting may appoint to preside.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"14\">\n<li><strong>CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>14.1.\u00a0\u00a0A petition of at least five members or any officer shall propose<\/p>\n<p>14.2.\u00a0\u00a0The proposed amendments shall be submitted to the secretary general in writing and shall be considered by the EC before being tabled at either AGM or OGM<\/p>\n<p>14.3.\u00a0\u00a0The amendments shall be approved by at least 2\/3 of the voting members present at either AGM or OGM<\/p>\n<ol start=\"15\">\n<li><strong>FINANCIAL REGULATIONS<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>15.1.\u00a0\u00a0Any person liable to a loss of property of the Association shall be charged before EC where either of the following disciplinary measures shall be taken:-<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a)Compensation for the lost property<\/li>\n<li>b)Compensation of the lost property and suspension, not more than 3 months<\/li>\n<li>c)Compensation for the lost property and cessation of membership<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>15.2.\u00a0\u00a0In case he\/she refuses the summons of the EC shall be charged under (15.1 c)<\/p>\n<p>15.3.\u00a0\u00a0In case of failure of 15.1 or 15.2 he\/she shall be charged under university and national laws consecutively.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"16\">\n<li><strong>COMMON SEAL<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>16.1.\u00a0\u00a0Common seal of the Association shall bear the following inscription \u201cTanzania Forestry Students\u2019 Association\u201d<\/p>\n<p>16.2.\u00a0\u00a0The common seal will only be fixed to documents in the presence of the following:<\/p>\n<p>Adopted this\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026day of\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026.2012<\/p>\n<p>Chairperson\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026Signature\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary General\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026..
