AFF brokers collaboration with and among organisations, particularly those whose mandates and activities are consistent with those of AFF. The collaboration aims to bring together complementary resources and skills to enhance effectiveness and probability of success in joint delivery of interventions at all levels.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Purpose of the work<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>This consultancy aims at developing, in collaboration with the AFF Secretariat, a <a title=\"Call for consultancy services on developing a partnership policy for the African Forest Forum (AFF)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-consultancy-services-on-developing-a-partnership-policy-for-the-african-forest-forum-aff\">Partnership Policy<\/a> document that will guide the institution in leveraging required expertise and financial resources for its sustainability and strengthened delivery of its mandate.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Specific tasks<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>The specific tasks for the assignment include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Carry out an evaluation of the AFF current way of partnering: identify gaps, challenges and recommend actions and measures to achieve the desired goals taking into considering new and emerging trends in forestry, <a title=\"Call for consultancy services: recruitment of experts to review and synthesise information on the nexus between climate change, forests and trees\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-consultancy-services-recruitment-of-experts-to-review-and-synthesise-information-on-the-nexus-between-climate-change-forests-and-trees\">climate change<\/a> and donor landscapes.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct a desk review of the partnership landscape and partnership policies and strategies of organisations (with similar mode\/way of working as AFF) in <a title=\"Africa\u2019s Ape sanctuaries face climate heat\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/africas-ape-sanctuaries-face-climate-heat\">Africa<\/a> and other regions of the world.<\/li>\n<li>Develop an annotated outline of the AFF Partnership Policy; to be validated by the AFF Secretariat prior to finalising development of the policy that can inform AFF\u2019s strategy on partnerships.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a draft AFF Partnerships Policy Document to guide the institution in better developing and managing its partnerships. This could include (but not limited to):\n<ul>\n<li>A clear structure (typology\/nomenclature) and hierarchy of partnerships and related agreements (types and contents).<\/li>\n<li>Approaches and procedures for identifying partners and <a title=\"Launching of the Development Corridors Partnership (DCP) Project in Tanzania\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/launching-of-the-development-corridors-partnership-dcp-project-in-tanzania\">developing partnerships<\/a> with adequate stakeholders at various levels.<\/li>\n<li>Approaches and strategies to forge closer working linkages with relevant national institutions in the host <a title=\"Funding: Climate-resilient Action in African Countries\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/funding-climate-resilient-action-in-african-countries\">country and in other African<\/a> countries.<\/li>\n<li>Approaches to seek closer and operational relationships with international, regional and sub-regional intergovernmental institutions (African Union Commission, UNECA, RECs, etc).<\/li>\n<li>Approaches to reach to and forge closer relationships with the donor community and relevant international institutions to mobilize resources for the work of AFF.<\/li>\n<li>Collate areas of partnership and approaches to best engage the (heterogeneous) private sector in resource mobilization and <a title=\"Call for Projects 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-projects-2023\">project<\/a> implementation in Africa and beyond.<\/li>\n<li>An approach to due diligence prior to <a title=\"Liberia: EPA, Yale University Sign Biodiversity Conservation Agreement\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/liberia-epa-yale-university-sign-biodiversity-conservation-agreement\">signing of agreements<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>An approach to internal and external management and monitoring of partnership <a title=\"Climate change impacts, risks and adaptation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/climate-change-impacts-risks-and-adaptation\">risks and impacts<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Benchmark the scope and range of partnerships essential for AFF\u2019s core functions.<\/li>\n<li>Mapping the best engagement strategies and platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Present the draft Partnerships Policy Document to the AFF Secretariat staff and other resource persons and collect inputs \/ amendments to help revise the policy document.<\/li>\n<li>Finalise the Partnerships <a title=\"National Beekeeping Policy Implementation Strategy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/national-beekeeping-policy-implementation-strategy\">Policy Document with clear implementation<\/a> matrix.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u><strong>Duration<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>The tasks in these TORs are for a one month\u2019s workload spread over 4 months.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Expected deliverables<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>The selected expert is expected to produce the following deliverables:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A detailed report on the evaluation of the AFF current way of partnering versus partnership practices of similar organizations<\/li>\n<li>A draft AFF Partnership Policy Document.<\/li>\n<li>A final Transformative Partnership Policy Document incorporating feedback from relevant stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u><strong>Minimum qualifications and skills<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>This consultancy is meant for experts demonstrating the following education and skills.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have, at least, an MSc degree in international development, international affairs, business administration, social sciences, economics, natural <a title=\"New degree programme \u2013 Bachelor of Science Bee Resources Management\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/bachelor-of-science-bee-resources-management\">resources management<\/a>, forestry or any other related fields;<\/li>\n<li>Have, at least, ten years of proven experience in developing and\/or managing partnerships of organisations working in diverse fields including natural resources management, forestry, and <a title=\"UN Urges States to Protect Children\u2019s Rights Amidst Climate Change\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/un-urges-states-to-protect-childrens-rights-amidst-climate-change\">climate<\/a> change;<\/li>\n<li>Have proven knowledge, understanding of the structure and mechanisms of financial institutions including global, regional, and sub-regional multilateral <a title=\"African Development Bank funds climate resilience in Nigeria\u2019s Yobe State\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/african-development-bank-funds-climate-resilience-in-nigerias-yobe-state\">development banks<\/a>, climate finance institutions, international cooperation agencies, and bilateral donors.<\/li>\n<li>Have demonstrated research and analytical skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
