This significant event brought together policymakers, experts, and stakeholders from across the continent to address the intricate interplay between climate change and its impacts on peace and security.

The primary objective of the consultation was to tackle the multifaceted challenges that arise at the intersection of climate change, peace, and security. Recognizing that climate change exacerbates existing vulnerabilities and can be a catalyst for conflict, the event aimed to bridge critical policy gaps that hinder effective responses to these interconnected issues. Participants engaged in robust discussions to identify and prioritize the specific policy measures needed to address these challenges comprehensively.

One of the key outcomes of the consultation was the enhancement of technical capacities across African nations. By sharing best practices and innovative solutions, the event sought to build local expertise and strengthen the technical foundation required for effective climate and security strategies. This capacity-building effort is crucial for empowering African countries to develop and implement robust climate resilience and security frameworks.

Securing adequate funding was another central focus of the consultation. Participants explored various funding mechanisms and partnerships that could provide the necessary financial support to address both climate and security challenges effectively.

Improving decision-making processes was also a key theme, with discussions centered on how to integrate climate considerations into security policies and vice versa.
