The Fund uses the IUCN Red List as the primary guide to the conservation status of a given species, although documented variations for sub-species, distinct populations, and subpopulations will be taken into account. Grants are up to US$25 thousand. Applications must be submitted in English. The next application deadlines are 28 February, 30 June, and 31 October 2025.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.speciesconservation.org\/grants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Know more<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Grant Applications<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<article class=\"span8\">\n<div id=\"page-content\">\n<p>The next application deadline is 28th February 2025.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note that applications for work with species which are not threatened, applications with clearly incorrect <a title=\"Oklahoma City Zoo &amp; Botanical Garden: Conservation Grants 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/oklahoma-city-zoo-botanical-garden-conservation-grants-2023\">conservation<\/a> status and no justification, or which ask for above the maximum grant size, will\u00a0NOT\u00a0be considered for funding.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can complete and submit the application online by clicking\u00a0<a class=\"external-link\" title=\"Application\" href=\"https:\/\/application.speciesconservation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<strong>Before starting an application<\/strong>, please ensure that you have read and understood the application\u00a0<a title=\"Criteria\" href=\"https:\/\/www.speciesconservation.org\/grants\/criteria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criteria<\/a>\u00a0(especially relating to the species conservation status) and have had a look at the\u00a0<a title=\"FAQs\" href=\"https:\/\/www.speciesconservation.org\/grants\/frequently-asked-questions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frequently Asked Questions<\/a>\u00a0page on the Fund&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During <a title=\"2023: Warmest Year on Record\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/2023-warmest-year-on-record\">2023<\/a> and 2024 the Fund will be trialling a process whereby the Fund awards grants for the conservation of threatened soil species. To submit an application for a threatened <a title=\"Junior Research Scientist in Forest soil science\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/junior-research-scientist-in-forest-soil-science\">soil<\/a> species please select &#8220;MBZ Special Focus&#8221; under &#8220;Species Type&#8221; in section 5.1 of the application form.\u00a0<strong>This is in addition to the usual grants awarded.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Fund has been established to provide targeted grants to individual species <a title=\"Conservation study of people\u2019s park complex may affect collective sale\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/conservation-study-of-peoples-park-complex-may-affect-collective-sale\">conservation<\/a> initiatives, recognize leaders in the field and elevate the importance of species in the broader conservation debate. Its <a title=\"Global Transformation of Forest for People and Climate: A Focus on West Africa\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/global-transformation-of-forest-for-people-and-climate-a-focus-on-west-africa\">focus is global<\/a> and eligibility for grants will extend to all plant, animal and fungi species conservation efforts, without discrimination on the basis of region or selected species. However, it is very competitive indeed with only around 12% of applicants receiving a grant.<\/p>\n<p>Grants will be awarded based on their ability to meet\u00a0<a title=\"Criteria\" href=\"https:\/\/www.speciesconservation.org\/grants\/criteria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criteria<\/a>\u00a0pre-determined by the Species Fund, and are for maximum of $25,000 for each project.<\/p>\n<p>Once your application has been submitted you will receive an automated email acknowledging receipt of your application, which will also contain log in details.<\/p>\n<p>There are three grant rounds per year, and generally applications received before the end of February will receive a reply at the end of April or early May. The next submission deadline will be the last day of June, (and applicants will receive a reply in September). The final round of grants in a given year usually has a deadline of the end of October, with <a title=\"Applications for Admission into Masters and PhD programmes for the Academic Year 2018\/2019\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/applications-for-admission-into-masters-and-phd-programmes-for-the-academic-year-2018-2019\">applicants<\/a> receiving a repsonse in late December of the same year or early January of the following year. Please do not leave it until the last minute to submit your application but do so well ahead of the deadline.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that this is a very competitive process and sadly the vast <a title=\"Major Research Grant Development Finance\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/major-research-grant-development-finance\">majority of applicants do not receive grants<\/a>.
