TCF lists priority species. Most regular grants are US$2 thousand to US$5 thousand per project. The <a title=\"Milkywire Climate Transformation Fund\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/milkywire-climate-transformation-fund\">Fund<\/a> also makes seed grants of US$1 thousand or less. <a title=\"2024 Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowship Program Applications Open\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/2024-jacobs-foundation-research-fellowship-program-applications-open\">Application deadlines for both programs<\/a> are 01 June and 01 December of each year.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/turtleconservationfund.org\/grants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Know more<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As one of its main functions, TCF administers a turtle conservation and <a title=\"Research Grants 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/research-grants-2023-2\">research grants<\/a> program.<br \/>\nAwards are granted to organizations or individuals for specific <a title=\"Let\u2019s honor those who have protected Indiana\u2019s natural places through conservation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/lets-honor-those-who-have-protected-indianas-natural-places-through-conservation\">conservation<\/a> or research projects dealing with<br \/>\nhighly endangered\u00a0tortoises or freshwater turtles, but\u00a0not marine turtles,<br \/>\nwith either partial or full <a title=\"Prince Bernhard Nature Fund supporting Nature Conservation Worldwide\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/prince-bernhard-nature-fund-supporting-nature-conservation-worldwide\">support as funding<\/a> allows.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>From 2003 through 2024<br \/>\nthe TCF has awarded a total of US $1.58 million to 371 worthy turtle conservation projects.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtleconservationfund.org\/announcements\/\"><strong>For a listing of grants supported since 2003, please click here.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>TCF <a title=\"Research Grants for Field Research 2024\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/research-grants-for-field-research-2024\">Grant<\/a> Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Priority for funding is given to projects that focus on\u00a0<strong>tortoises or freshwater turtles<\/strong>\u00a0that are already highly threatened according to the <a title=\"IUCN Launches the Project \u201cEnhancing climate resilience of Biodiversity Hotspots in Jordan\u201d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/iucn-launches-the-project-enhancing-climate-resilience-of-biodiversity-hotspots-in-jordan\">IUCN<\/a> Red List or the TFTSG Provisional Red List, as either\u00a0<strong>Critically Endangered<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Endangered<\/strong>, or which may be highly threatened but not yet officially classified as such on the Red List.\u00a0<strong>We do not support work on marine turtles<\/strong>. TCF Awards are approximately in the $1000 to $5000 range per project (with full or partial funding depending on full project costs), and smaller <a title=\"Seed Grant for African Principal Investigators\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/uncategorized\/seed-grant-for-african-principal-investigators\">seed grant<\/a> projects are also encouraged (up to $1000 each)\u00a0to support pilot conservation initiatives for tortoise and freshwater turtle species that are currently either IUCN Red Listed as Critically Endangered or Endangered (or on the TCF Priority Species list\u2013see below), or species that may become priority species with an increase in the state of knowledge about the status of their populations or the threats they currently face (principally species currently classified on the Red List Data Deficient or not yet assessed [Not Evaluated]).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Award recipients enter into contractual agreement with either Re:wild (formerly Global <a title=\"Supporting Marginalized Groups in Wildlife Conservation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/supporting-marginalized-groups-in-wildlife-conservation\">Wildlife Conservation<\/a>) or Chelonian Research Foundation to produce the proposed work (these non-profit organizations serve as TCF\u2019s financial umbrella organizations). Award recipients are also encouraged to publish at least partial results of the supported research in the international scientific turtle journal,\u00a0<em>Chelonian Conservation and Biology<\/em>, published by Chelonian Research Foundation (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chelonian.org\/\">www.chelonian.org<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are two <a title=\"Funguo Innovation Programme 2nd Funding Round\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/funguo-innovation-programme-2nd-funding-round\">funding<\/a> cycles annually. Total disbursement has averaged between $20,000 to $50,000 per funding cycle, or $40,000 to $100,000 per year to date.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Since our first funding cycle in 2003 through June 2022 we have awarded US $1.58 million to 371 deserving turtle <a title=\"Small Grants for Conservation Projects 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/small-grants-for-conservation-projects-2023\">conservation projects.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtleconservationfund.org\/grant-application-guidelines\/\"><strong>Grant Application Deadlines: June 1 and December 1.<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtleconservationfund.org\/grant-application-guidelines\/\"><strong>For detailed information and instructions on the Grant Application process, please click here.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.turtleconservationfund.org\/announcements\/\"><strong>For a listing of grants supported since 2003, please click here.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nTCF Priority Species<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Turtle Conservation Fund<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Priority Species List<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>(April 2024)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most Priority Species and subspecies listed here have been assessed as <a title=\"Grants in Support of Endangered and Critically Endangered Species\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/grants-in-support-of-endangered-and-critically-endangered-species\">Critically Endangered<\/a> (CR) by either the IUCN Red List or provisionally CR by the IUCN Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Specialist Group (TFTSG). A few are assessed as Endangered (EN).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, several species are considered <a title=\"Spatial Data Scientist\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/spatial-data-scientist\">Data<\/a> Deficient (DD) by either the IUCN Red List or the TFTSG provisional list, indicating their population status is unknown due to a lack of information (see the\u00a0<strong>Appendix<\/strong>\u00a0at the end of this document). In order to gain a better understanding of their status, proposals regarding these are also solicited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Importantly, any other species not currently listed
