Projects must benefit biodiversity in a wild landscape such as alpine meadows, forests, peatlands, freshwater habitats, salt marshes, mangroves and seagrass meadows, etc. Grants are to nonprofit organizations in amounts up to \u20ac30 thousand for projects of one to two years anywhere in the world (except North America). There are two application periods per year. In the meantime, please see our page on \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eocaconservation.org\/our-projects\/apply-for-funding\/funding-criteria\/\">Funding criteria<\/a>\u2018 for full details of what we look for in a conservation project application.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Recorded webinar now available to help anyone thinking about applying for funding from EOCA. \u00a0The webinar provides advice on the application form, process, project criteria and answers to the most frequently asked questions. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=68vH4HUQNqU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Take a look now<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Non-profit organisations can apply to EOCA for funding twice a year.\u00a0 All projects go through a rigorous selection process, being assessed against EOCA\u2019s numerous funding criteria to provide a shortlist.\u00a0 These projects then receive an in-depth review by our panel of scientific advisers, resulting in the final project shortlist. \u00a0Which projects are selected for funding from this shortlist is decided through a Public Vote and an EOCA Members Vote. All outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers are invited to take part in the\u00a0<strong>public vote<\/strong>, which is hosted on our website. This involves some work by the project organisations included in the vote, to rally supporters to vote. These two issues are intrinsically linked, and both are of enormous importance to wildlife, nature, people and the future of the planet.<\/p>\n<p>From the highest mountains and the valleys between them, to streams, lakes and oceans, within these varied landscapes are many different ecosystems, each vital for biodiversity, <a title=\"Restoring and Mitigating Climate Change Effects on Forest Biodiversity\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/restoring-and-mitigating-climate-change-effects-on-forest-biodiversity\">mitigating against climate change<\/a>, and for communities.<\/p>\n<p>These include alpine meadows, forests, peatlands, freshwater habitats, salt marshes, mangroves and seagrass meadows, to name but a few.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nEOCA funds projects which benefit biodiversity in a wild landscape.\u00a0<em>Our definition of \u2018landscape\u2019 includes marine environments, and a broad range of wild, non-urban spaces<\/em>. Projects must conserve, protect, enhance, restore, and\/or reconnect habitats within a given landscape that are particularly important for the biodiversity there.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The biodiversity focus should also address the <a title=\"A country of many ecosystems, Tanzania takes important steps to counter climate change\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/a-country-of-many-ecosystems-tanzania-takes-important-steps-to-counter-climate-change\">importance that EOCA places on the issue of climate change<\/a>. Projects should ensure that the habitats being conserved are those that sequester carbon, reduce emissions, enable <a title=\"Adaptation to Climate Change\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/adaptation-to-climate-change\">adaptations to climate change<\/a>, and\/or protect against further habitat and biodiversity loss.<\/p>\n<p>It is also very important that the projects are beneficial to the <a title=\"Ways forest conservation can benefit local communities and wildlife\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/ways-forest-conservation-can-benefit-local-communities-and-wildlife\">local communities<\/a> that live in, or near, these habitats.
