The Climate Story Fund will support 6-8 projects with grants ranging from US$50 thousand to US$125 thousand per project. The fund is open to all mediums and will support both production and impact campaigns. Projects may come from all over the world (including localized stories serving <a title=\"Ways forest conservation can benefit local communities and wildlife\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/ways-forest-conservation-can-benefit-local-communities-and-wildlife\">local communities<\/a>) and can be submitted by both new and established artists. Applications for the <a title=\"Climate Story Fund\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/climate-story-fund\">Climate Story Fund<\/a> will close 10 March 2025.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/climatestoryunit.org\/apply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Climate Story Fund<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"container-wide\">\n<div class=\"row ds-climate-unit-light br-br-lg align-items-center m-b-100\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-8 offset-lg-2 m-b-0 p-b-50\">\n<p class=\"lead-in-lg ds-climate-unit-dark\">\u201cAll flourishing is mutual&#8230; we are bound together, the flourishing of one is dependent on the flourishing of the other.\u201d These profound words from Robin Wall Kimmerer guide this year\u2019s call for applications for the Doc Society Climate Story Fund. We are seeking stories that illuminate the interconnectedness of all life and demonstrate how <a title=\"Support for Climate Action\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/support-for-climate-action\">climate action<\/a> can lead to a new era of abundance\u2014one where systems are redesigned to be more inclusive, equitable, and resilient, without leaving anyone behind. These narratives should resonate on a deeply emotional level, reflecting our collective love for our communities, our environments, and the generations yet to come. By amplifying these stories, we hope to activate <a title=\"Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/seeding-the-future-global-food-system-challenge\">global audiences to envision and demand a future<\/a> that balances environmental restoration with social justice, political accountability, ethical migration policies, and the responsible use of technology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead-in-lg bold ds-climate-unit\"><a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-lg\" href=\"https:\/\/forms.fillout.com\/t\/8YgBADCWjVus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Assess Your Project&#8217;s Fit with the Fund<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-5 offset-md-6 padding-20\">\n<div class=\"ds-climate-unit-dark br-tl-lg br-bl-lg br-br-lg no-padding text-offset-large text-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"container-wide m-b-100\">\n<div class=\"row p-t-50\">\n<div class=\"col-md-6 br-tr ds-climate inverted py-5 px-5 oy-b-15 p-l-100\">\n<p class=\"lead-in-lg\">The Doc Society Climate Story Fund supports compelling independent media storytelling and impact strategies from around that world that can help audiences envision the just transition, and activate them to make these visions a reality. The <a title=\"Prince Bernhard Nature Fund supporting Nature Conservation Worldwide\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/prince-bernhard-nature-fund-supporting-nature-conservation-worldwide\">Fund provides up to $125,000 grants to support<\/a> the completion of production of nonfiction projects, and for impact pilots for completed nonfiction and fiction projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead-in-lg\">We believe investing in culture is a <a title=\"CBD Events Discuss Inclusive Wealth, Nature-based Climate Solutions\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/cbd-events-discuss-inclusive-wealth-nature-based-climate-solutions\">solution to address the climate<\/a> emergency. We aren\u2019t looking for the one silver bullet story that will work for everyone, rather we believe we need a multitude of stories \u201cas diverse as the <a title=\"Saving forests to protect coastal ecosystems: Japan sets historic example\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/saving-forests-to-protect-coastal-ecosystems-japan-sets-historic-example\">ecosystems<\/a> we seek to save\u201d (props to filmmaker Michael Premo for coining this phrase).<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead-in-lg ds-climate-w quote-bar\">Stories that are from, by and about different communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead-in-lg ds-climate-unit-w quote-bar\">Stories that tickle the romantics, comedians, and thrill seekers alike<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead-in-lg ds-climate-w quote-bar\">Stories that forge deep connections with those who have historically been ignored and marginalized by the climate conversation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead-in-lg ds-climate-unit-w quote-bar\">Stories that can help see new norms and beliefs and germinate visions of a more <a title=\"Open Call: Integrating Climate Change &amp; Biodiversity into the Forest Management of the Future\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/open-call-integrating-climate-change-biodiversity-into-the-forest-management-of-the-future\">climate just and safe future<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead-in-lg ds-climate-w quote-bar\">Stories that forge deep connections with audiences and <a title=\"How New Backbench MPs Could Drive Climate Action\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/how-new-backbench-mps-could-drive-climate-action\">drive the ground swell for climate action<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-6 m-t-100\">\n<p class=\"lead-in-lg\">Since its launch in 2021 the Doc Society Climate Story Fund has awarded more than $4M to more than 50 projects that move us closer to a more climate just and biodiverse future. Current grantees represent multiple geographies, spanning from Latin America to <a title=\"Call for application- L\u2019Or\u00e9al UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talents \u2013 Sub-Saharan Africa\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-application-loreal-unesco-for-women-in-science-young-talents-sub-saharan-africa\">Sub Saharan Africa<\/a> to Southeast Asia. Some grantees are reaching their target audiences on public service broadcasters such as the BBC, POV, via digital platforms like Spotify and YouTube, or even messaging applications like WhatsApp. Others are being picked up by streamers including Netflix, Hulu and Disney+. All projects have signed or are negotiating distribution deals that align with impact goals and potential to engage critical audiences in each context where they are being released.
