The Australian Museum Research Institute<\/a> (AMRI) offers students access to the Australian Museum\u2019s collections and research programs. AMRI focuses on environmental challenges such as climate change impacts on biodiversity, the detection and biology of pest species, and understanding what constitutes and influences effective biodiversity conservation. The postgraduate award is open to students enrolled in any postgraduate qualification program relevant to the AMRI research priorities. AMRI provides financial support of $2,500. Applications for funding may be submitted until\u00a030 April 2025.\u00a0More information<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

The Australian Museum Research<\/a> Institute (AMRI) focuses on some of today\u2019s major challenges including understanding changing biodiversity; researching major<\/a> changes in earth sciences particularly in mineralogy, petrology and palaeontology; and, exploring and communicating under-represented histories and cultures.<\/p>\n

The AM\u2019s natural science collections and AMRI research<\/a> is underpinned by significant scientific infrastructure including the Australian Centre for Wildlife Genomics, Collection Care and Conservation Lab and the Lizard Island Research Station, situated on Australia\u2019s Great Barrier Reef. Combined with digital citizen science<\/a> projects, high impact expeditions, and extensive networks and partners, AMRI is at the forefront of scientific discovery.<\/p>\n

When applying for the AMRI Postgraduate Award, students are encouraged to focus their applications on the Museum\u2019s collections and research programs<\/a>. Students must be supervised by an AMRI research scientist<\/a> or manager while pursuing a postgraduate degree. Students are encouraged to spend time at the Museum as part of their research program<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Australian Centre for Wildlife Genomics (DNA) Facilities<\/b>: If you plan to use the Museum\u2019s DNA lab facilities to undertake molecular studies, please include this as a line item in your budget.
