Forestry 2018\/19 conducted insect field survey at SUA Botanical gardens located at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) Main Campus on 28<sup>th<\/sup> -29<sup>th<\/sup> January 2019. A survey aimed at providing a foundation in sampling and collection techniques for insects in agro-ecosystems, natural and planted forest. The survey is based on the course of FBL 301: Forest Protection under Entomology part taught in the class. The survey was organized by Mr. Paulo J. Lyimo assisted by Mr. Cosmas J. Emily of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/forestrybiology\/\">Department of Ecosystems and Conservation (DEC)<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/\">College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism (CFWT)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sua.ac.tz\/\">Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA)<\/a>, Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>During practical students gained experience on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using various entomology field equipment in different techniques<\/li>\n<li>Identify at least 20 insect orders out of 31 and approximately 100 of the 800 families of Tanzania<\/li>\n<li>where to find most of insect families in the field, and the most appropriate method(s) to use to collect them<\/li>\n<li>Properly preserve and prepare insects for scientific study and research vouchering<\/li>\n<li>Using survey data of insects to prioritize conservation management efforts to sensitive areas of forest<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-154\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/forest-insect-collection-methods-in-Tanzania.jpg\" alt=\"forest insect collection methods in Tanzania\" width=\"1051\" height=\"702\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/forest-insect-collection-methods-in-Tanzania.jpg 1051w, https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/forest-insect-collection-methods-in-Tanzania-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/forest-insect-collection-methods-in-Tanzania-768x513.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/forest-insect-collection-methods-in-Tanzania-1024x684.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1051px) 100vw, 1051px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Group photo of BSc.
