Our Scholars are&nbsp;African women under the age of 40, pursuing PhD studies at accredited universities in East Africa, and who want to be leaders in their field and society. Successful Scholars are also&nbsp;engaged in compelling and interesting research that&nbsp;is relevant to African development priorities, contributes new knowledge to their field of study, and holds the potential for transformational change in their communities, and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> <strong>Application Process:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The application window&nbsp;<strong>opens on October&nbsp;14<sup>th<\/sup>, 2019<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>closes on November 22<sup>nd<\/sup>, 2019<\/strong>&nbsp;at midnight East African Time.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Applicants will be given a final decision on the status of their application in early 2020 and the fellowship year will commence shortly afterwards.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Successful applicants receive grants for research and conference travel, and participate in a year-long professional development training programme.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>To learn more about Scholar benefits, eligibility requirements, selection criteria, and to review frequently asked questions, please visit&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mawazoinstitute.org\/phdscholars\">https:\/\/mawazoinstitute.org\/phdscholars<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Applications will be accepted through our online portal&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mawazoinstitute.submittable.com\/submit\">here<\/a>&nbsp;until November 22<sup>nd<\/sup>.
