The BSc Forestry Students Year 2 of 2022 are conducting the field practical training in silviculture at the SUA Training Forest, Olmotonyi, Arusha. The field practical training of silviculture is offered under the supervision of the Department of Ecosystems and Conservation (DEC)<\/a> of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The aim of the field practical training in silviculture is to enable BSc Forestry graduates to analyze silvicultural problems and on the basis of the analysis, to make the best decision in the field of silvicultural management. The best decisions are those that take the biological and economical aspects of a silviculture problem equally into consideration and provide solution that are satisfactory from both\u00a0\u00a0 a biological and economic point\u00a0\u00a0 of view- and also not least from a practical point of view.<\/p>\n

Thinning and pruning treatment are silviculture treatments which maintain the need for adequate light intensity by relieving competition among residual individual in the stands and accelerating their growth.<\/p>\n
