The field practical training on herpetology was offered under the\u00a0CONTAN project<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0Department of Ecosystems and Conservation<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0Sokoine University of Agriculture<\/a> in partnership with University of Florence, MUSE \u2013 Science museum, University of Copenhagen, University of Bayreuth, University of Dar es Salaam, and College of African Wildlife Management\u00a0conducted field practical training on herpetology as a part of the biodiversity assessment, monitoring, and conservation.<\/p>\n

During this field practical training on herpetology, students of MSc. Ecosystems Science and Management<\/a>, and\u00a0MSc. Forestry<\/a>\u00a0 gained knowledge on the outstanding biodiversity of amphibians and reptiles found in a wide diversity of habitats throughout Udzungwa Mountains National park.<\/p>\n

Students obtained hands-on experience in amphibian and reptile identification, collecting and marking techniques, and data documentation. The practical also covered how to prepare a museum voucher specimen, including tissue vouchers.<\/p>\n
