The call\u00a0<em>Development of innovative strategies, tools, technologies, and methods for diagnostics and surveillance of antimicrobial resistance<\/em>\u00a0involves 22 funders from 18 countries. The total estimated call budget is about 18,8 million Euro.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-33065\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jpiamr.eu\/app\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Call-picture_Diagnostics-and-Surveillance-2023.png\" alt=\"Peacock feather on black background with the text: AMR diagnostics and surveillance 2023.\" width=\"1024\" height=\"524\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>To take action against the growing global threat of increasing resistance in pathogenic organisms, and the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), this call aims to fund <a title=\"FSP 300 Research Project I: Research Methods and Proposal development\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/study\/fsp-300-research-project-i-research-methods-and-proposal-development\">research projects developing<\/a> novel or improving existing strategies, tools, technologies and methods for diagnosis and\/or One Health AMR surveillance.<\/p>\n<p>Through this call, the ERA-NET JPIAMR-ACTION intends to create and reinforce the collaboration between <a title=\"Doctoral Researchers\/PhD Students (9 positions) in the field of forest biodiversity research\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/doctoral-researchers-phd-students-9-positions-in-the-field-of-forest-biodiversity-research\">research partners coming from different countries and different fields<\/a> of expertise to promote research on antimicrobial resistance. The results of the <a title=\"Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) invites proposals for project funding\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/global-biodiversity-information-facility-gbif-invites-proposals-for-project-funding\">funded projects<\/a> should contribute to improved understanding, monitoring, detection and mitigation of infection and AMR, or optimisation of antimicrobial use where efforts to curb AMR will have a global impact on human, animal and plant health and food safety and security.<\/p>\n<p>In the scope of this call, antimicrobials include antibiotics, antifungals and disinfectants (biocides).<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Topics_of_the_call\">Topics of the call<\/span><\/h2><div id=\"toc_container\" class=\"no_bullets\"><p class=\"toc_title\">Contents<\/p><ul class=\"toc_list\"><li><a href=\"#Topics_of_the_call\"><span class=\"toc_number toc_depth_1\">1<\/span> Topics of the call<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Eligibility\"><span class=\"toc_number toc_depth_1\">2<\/span> Eligibility<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Timeline\"><span class=\"toc_number toc_depth_1\">3<\/span> Timeline<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Information_application\"><span class=\"toc_number toc_depth_1\">4<\/span> Information &amp; application<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Funders\"><span class=\"toc_number toc_depth_1\">5<\/span> Funders<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n<p><a title=\"Request for Proposal on Analysis of Public Sector Climate, Forest, and Land Use Strategies and Determination of Investment Readiness Score\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/request-for-proposal-on-analysis-of-public-sector-climate-forest-and-land-use-strategies-and-determination-of-investment-readiness-score\">Proposals should aim to address unmet needs in the AMR diagnostics and surveillance sectors<\/a> beyond the current state of the art, by focusing on\u00a0<strong>one of the topics<\/strong>\u00a0of the call:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Topic 1<\/strong>: To develop novel, or improve existing, diagnostics, including point of care diagnostics, that can rule out antimicrobial use or help identify the most effective antimicrobial treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Within this topic projects may:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop new, improve or repurpose existing strategies, technologies, and methods for\u00a0the rapid, accurate and affordable detection of bacterial or fungal infection and\/ or\u00a0resistance patterns and elements.<\/li>\n<li>Study ways to facilitate and implement the uptake and use of existing diagnostics in\u00a0varied economic settings<\/li>\n<li>Optimise the use of tools, technologies, and methods for diagnostic data capture and usage, for example in conjunction with surveillance strategies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Topic 2<\/strong>: To <a title=\"National Bamboo Development Strategy and Action Plan\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/development-of-the-national-bamboo-development-strategy-and-action-plan\">develop or improve existing strategies<\/a>, technologies or methods, or data use strategies to support One Health AMR surveillance.<\/p>\n<p>Within this topic projects may:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop new or improve existing strategies, technologies, and methods for the detection, analysis, monitoring and use of AMR and AMU data. This can include the analysis of\u00a0existing data or the application of existing surveillance strategies, technologies, and methods to additional OH settings.<\/li>\n<li>Explore the standardisation, FAIRification and linkage of methodologies, datasets and relevant indicators to perform globally comparative, integrated and triangulated surveillance of AMR\/AMU in humans, animals (including companion animals, livestock and wildlife), plants, food, and the environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following sub-topics are\u00a0<strong>out of the scope<\/strong>\u00a0of the call:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>antiviral and antiparasitic agents,<\/li>\n<li>proposals solely aiming to extend existing surveillance networks (e.g. GLASS, national surveillance programmes).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the framework of this call, proposals addressing diagnostics (Topic 1) may focus within any individual One Health setting. Surveillance-focused proposals (Topic 2) should focus within two or\u00a0more settings of One Health or extend to a new OH setting. In case of proposals focusing on existing surveillance strategies, the proposal should extend to at least one additional OH setting.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Eligibility\">Eligibility<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Eligibility rules for the consortia are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consortia must include a minimum of three (3) eligible partners asking for funding from three (3) different eligible countries (including at least two amongst EU Member States or Associated Countries).<\/li>\n<li>Consortia should consist of a maximum of six (6) project partners (including non-funded partners). The maximum number of partners can be increased to seven (7) if the consortium includes: a) at least one partner from an under-represented country (including LDCs), b) at least one partner where the Principal Investigator meets the definition of an Early Career Researcher, or c) a company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the purpose of this call:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the under-represented countries are Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, and Least Developed Countries,<\/li>\n<li>Least Developed Countries (LDCs) are low-income countries confronting severe structural impediments to sustainable development, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd.org\/dac\/financing-sustainable-development\/development-finance-standards\/DAC-List-of-ODA-Recipients-for-reporting-2022-23-flows.pdf\">DAC list of ODA recipients<\/a>. Read more under \u201cInformation and application\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>an Early Career <a title=\"PhD Research Scholarship 2020\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/phd-research-scholarship-2020\">Researcher is a person with up to 8 years after PhD<\/a>, holding a position at a recognized institution. The eligible extensions of the 8 year period are listed in the call text.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The budget of non-funded partners shall not exceed 30% of the requested total transnational project budget requested.
