We focus on places where we\u2019ve built connections through outdoor recreation and through our network of retail stores, nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>We believe local battles to protect a specific stand of forest, a stretch of river, an indigenous wild species or a community from a polluting refinery build public support and confront larger, more complex issues like climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental justice.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage work that brings underrepresented <a title=\"Value chain development for selected forest-based products to enhance community livelihoods\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/value-chain-development-for-selected-forest-based-products-to-enhance-community-livelihoods\">communities to the forefront of the environmental movement and defend communities whose health and livelihoods<\/a> are threatened by environmental exploitation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"pb-1 pb-md-3\">We support multipronged campaigns that push for greater <a title=\"International Environmental Governance Capacity Building\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/international-environmental-governance-capacity-building\">environmental protections and force the government<\/a> to abide by its own laws.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row pb-1 pb-md-4\">\n<div class=\"col-sm pb-3\">\n<p><strong>We fund work that<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>builds an equitable, inclusive and diverse environmental movement<\/p>\n<p>confronts systemic bias, discrimination and injustice in environmental policy or outdoor spaces<\/p>\n<p>is action-oriented<\/p>\n<p>focuses on root causes<\/p>\n<p>has a clear strategy<\/p>\n<p>identifies specific goals and objectives that can be effectively measured to evaluate success<\/p>\n<p>builds public involvement and civic engagement<\/p>\n<p>works to build an inclusive and diverse environmental movement<\/p>\n<p>takes place within the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-sm\">\n<p><strong>We do not fund<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>organizations that perpetuate systemic biases and discrimination based on ethnicity, race, religion, color, sexual <a title=\"Orientation Week Program for Academic Year 2022\/2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/orientation-week-program-for-academic-year-2022-2023\">orientation<\/a>, gender, gender identity, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, veteran, or disability status<\/p>\n<p>organizations without a non-profit status or a comparable fiscal sponsor<\/p>\n<p>trail creation, maintenance or restoration<\/p>\n<p>any dam renovations, human-assisted fish passage infrastructure or hatchery programs<\/p>\n<p>conservation easements or land acquisition<\/p>\n<p>research, unless it is in direct support of a <a title=\"National Bamboo Development Strategy and Action Plan\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/development-of-the-national-bamboo-development-strategy-and-action-plan\">developed plan for specific action<\/a> to alleviate an environmental problem<\/p>\n<p>projects that are solely focused on <a title=\"Grants for Environmental Education\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/grants-for-environmental-education\">environmental education<\/a><\/p>\n<p>environmental conferences, event sponsorships or film festivals<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"New multiple vacancies announced \u2013 Eastern Arc Mountains Conservation Endowment Fund\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/new-multiple-vacancies-announced-eastern-arc-mountains-conservation-endowment-fund\">endowment funds<\/a><\/p>\n<p>political campaigns<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Invitation for Students to Apply to Project Green Course\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/invitation-for-students-to-apply-to-project-green-course\">green building projects<\/a><\/p>\n<p>bike advocacy, unless the project is in direct support of a <a title=\"Public Awareness on Climate Change\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/public-awareness-on-climate-change-2\">climate change<\/a> solution<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h5 class=\"pb-3 pt-2\">Patagonia believes that the most direct path to real change is through building grassroots momentum.<\/h5>\n<p>Our <a title=\"Prince Bernhard Nature Fund supporting Nature Conservation Worldwide\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/prince-bernhard-nature-fund-supporting-nature-conservation-worldwide\">funding focuses on organizations that have or can create a strong base of support<\/a>. Because we&#8217;re a privately held company, we have the freedom to fund risk-taking, off-the-beaten-track groups, and that&#8217;s where we believe our <a title=\"CALL FOR PROPOSALS: GEF SMALL GRANTS PROGRAMME\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-proposals-gef-small-grants-programme\">small grants<\/a> are most effective.<\/p>\n<p>We accept one proposal per group in a given fiscal year (<strong>May 1\u2013April 30<\/strong>). Our typical <a title=\"Call for proposals to support Africa\u2019s Science Granting Councils in funding and managing research and innovation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-proposals-to-support-africas-science-granting-councils-in-funding-and-managing-research-and-innovation\">grant size ranges between $5,000 and $15,000 Proposals are reviewed and grants decisions are made by an employee grants council<\/a> in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>There are three annual deadlines for this process:<\/p>\n<p><strong>May 31st<\/strong>\u00a0(all applications received in May will receive a response by the end of August)<br \/>\n<strong>September 30th<\/strong>\u00a0(all applications received in September will receive a response by the end of December)<br \/>\n<strong>January 31st<\/strong>\u00a0(all applications received in January will receive a response by the end of May)<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"pb-3 pt-2\">Application Procedure<\/h5>\n<p>To begin the application process, click \u201cApply\u201d to take the eligibility quiz and find out if your work fits within our guidelines.
