Whether it is selling your idea to potential funders, talking to school children in nearby communities or sharing ideas with policy makers you need to tailor your communication style. How can we, as conservation practitioners, think more about our audiences? How can we use storytelling as a tool to help us bring our <a title=\"Managing the Eastern Arc Mountain forests for Carbon credits and emission trading; Local knowledge and climate change adaptation project (2007 \u2013 to date).\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/research\/managing-the-eastern-arc-mountain-forests-for-carbon-credits-and-emission-trading-local-knowledge-and-climate-change-adaptation-project-2007-to-date\">projects and knowledge<\/a> to society? In this five-day course, international experts will help <a title=\"Women in the Field skills based training program \u2013 call for participants\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/women-in-the-field-skills-based-training-program-call-for-participants\">participants address these questions using a mix of theoretical and practical activities to help build the skills<\/a> you need to effectively communicate your work to a range of audiences.<\/p>\n<p>Participants who complete this course will have the opportunity to be <a title=\"Consultancy services on assessment of forest planning and management in different forest types in selected African countries\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/consultancy-services-on-assessment-of-forest-planning-and-management-in-different-forest-types-in-selected-african-countries\">selected to team up with participants from the African<\/a> School of Storytelling for a second course in October. This exciting interdisciplinary <a title=\"ONLINE COURSE: Designing Conservation Projects and Measuring Impact\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/online-course-designing-conservation-projects-and-measuring-impact\">course will bring together conservation<\/a> practitioners, scientists, and filmmaking students to create short films on current conservation projects, with the aim of producing African conservation stories, developed and told by African voices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits and expectations <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The program will sponsor the cost of the course, travel and on-site accommodation. Contributions for child care costs are possible. Participants are expected to arrive on site on 9 July, attend the complete range of program dates (10-14 July), and to depart site on 15 July. Up to 10 participants will be selected. The program will be taught in a combination of primarily in English.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This application is open to people at different career stages working in the <a title=\"Biodiversity and Conservation with African Field Course MRes\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/biodiversity-and-conservation-with-african-field-course-mres\">conservation field<\/a> that have a keen interest in science communication.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Be a <a title=\"MSc Graduate Research Assistant Fellowships for Tanzanian Nationals\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/msc-graduate-research-assistant-fellowships-for-tanzanian-nationals\">Tanzanian national<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Have completed a <a title=\"New degree programme \u2013 Bachelor of Science Bee Resources Management\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/bachelor-of-science-bee-resources-management\">bachelor\u2019s degree in Wildlife Management<\/a>, Ecology, Conservation or any other closely related field of study.<\/li>\n<li>Be passionate about conservation and show a genuine interest in making science accessible to the general public<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants must submit the following materials in a single pdf document via email to <a href=\"mailto:RISE@grumetifund.org\">RISE@grumetifund.org<\/a> \u00a0referencing \u2018SciComm Course Application\u2019 in the subject line.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Completed application document (attached below)<\/li>\n<li>A scanned copy of a bachelor&#8217;s degree (BSc) certificate.<\/li>\n<li>One letter of reference from a teacher, employer, or mentor that can speak to your career aspirations and interests.<\/li>\n<li>Copy of a National Identification Card or relevant ID<\/li>\n<li>Incomplete applications will not be considered.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Reference writers \u2013 please clarify your relationship with the applicant in your submission.
