The\u00a0two-day event brings together distinguished Agarwood experts, policymakers, and businesses to collectively explore advancements in cultivation, extraction, and industry regulations. We are proud to be a part of this global gathering, facilitating discussions and contributing to the progress of the Agarwood sector.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to connect with over 100 <a title=\"International Grants for Conference Participation 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/international-grants-for-conference-participation-2023\">participants from more than 15 countries at this year&#8217;s conference<\/a>. It&#8217;s been a long-awaited return for ISSA since 2016, and there is much to discuss. Over the years, we have witnessed significant advancements in cultivation and production methodologies, although it is unfortunate that the wild supply has declined at an <a title=\"Mountain forests are being lost at an accelerating rate, putting biodiversity at risk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/mountain-forests-are-being-lost-at-an-accelerating-rate-putting-biodiversity-at-risk\">accelerated rate.&#8221;<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Martin also emphasized the expected cross-collaboration opportunities at the event and expressed his pride in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Malaysia<\/span>\u00a0hosting the symposium once again, with it being the home to some of the finest Agarwood in the world.<\/p>\n<p>ISSA makes its highly anticipated return after a seven-year hiatus, caused by the prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Scheduled for\u00a0<span class=\"xn-chron\">October 17th to 18th<\/span>\u00a0in Putrajaya,\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Malaysia<\/span>, ISSA 2023 is a collaborative effort organized in partnership with esteemed organizations such as the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB), <a title=\"Forest Research Grant\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/forest-research-grant\">Forest Research<\/a> Institute Malaysia (FRIM), the Malacca State Forestry Department, and the Asia Pacific Association of Forestry Research Institutions (APAFRI).<\/p>\n<p>Topics at the event cover 7 key themes: (1) Conservation and sustainable use, (2) Commerce, policies and regulations, (3) Agarwood induction and biosynthesis, (4) Molecular and biotechnology, (5) Extraction technologies and constituents, (6) Tissue culture and (7) <a title=\"Value chain development for selected forest-based products to enhance community livelihoods\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/value-chain-development-for-selected-forest-based-products-to-enhance-community-livelihoods\">Product development<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>About The\u00a0<\/b><b>International Scientific Symposium on Agarwood<\/b><b>\u00a0(ISSA)<br \/>\n<\/b>The\u00a0International Scientific Symposium on Agarwood is the world&#8217;s leading conference on Agarwood that brings together the <a title=\"Academic Staff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/staff\/academic\">academics<\/a>, researchers, policymakers, government officials, businesses and interested individuals. The first symposium was held in 2013, followed by 2016 before making its long-awaited return this year at Putrajaya,\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Malaysia<\/span>. \u00a0This year marks the third ISSA and aims to continue the culture of exchanging ideas and information, and <a title=\"Strengthening Research Capacities in Africa\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/strengthening-research-capacities-in-africa\">strengthening international cooperation between researchers<\/a>. It will cover a wide range of topics relating to agarwood including genetics, physiology, <a title=\"Emergency Funding for Conservation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/emergency-funding-for-conservation\">conservation<\/a>, ecology\u00b8 induction, plantation management and policy.<\/p>\n<p><b>About\u00a0Agroforestry Group<br \/>\n<\/b>Established in 2015, Agroforestry Group have applied their thirty years of private forestry management into the establishment and commercial development of durian and agarwood plantations, product distribution and sales.
