Start-up grants are one-time grants of US$5 thousand to help newly-launched projects get started at the very beginning. Start-up grant extensions of US$3 thousand provide continued support for AArk seed or start-up grant projects. Workshop <a title=\"Research Grants for Field Research 2024\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/research-grants-for-field-research-2024\">grants<\/a> of up to US$750 are available to attend conservation-related workshops. Mentorship grants of up to US$1500 are available to organizations which have previously received an AArk seed or start-up grant. Emergency grants offer limited <a title=\"Funguo Innovation Programme 2nd Funding Round\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/funguo-innovation-programme-2nd-funding-round\">funding<\/a> to past recipients of AArk grants for emergency situations such as emergency rescue of wild populations facing imminent threat of extinction. <a title=\"Call for Projects 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-projects-2023\">Projects<\/a> should work with species in their range countries, involve range-country biologists, conform to biosecurity standards, and observe other guidelines explained on the website. Applicants are required to submit a brief Project Outline, prior to submitting a full application. The <a title=\"Call for Project Grant 2021: Sustainable development and climate change.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-project-grant-2021-sustainable-development-and-climate-change\">project outline deadline for all grants<\/a> is 08 September 2023.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amphibianark.org\/conservation-grants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Detailed information<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p>AArk has offered <a title=\"Seed Grant for African Principal Investigators\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/uncategorized\/seed-grant-for-african-principal-investigators\">grants since 2009 and in the past these have been predominantly seed<\/a> grants, for newly created\u00a0<em>ex situ<\/em>\u00a0programs, for species that have been assessed as in need of urgent\u00a0<em>ex situ<\/em>\u00a0rescue. While applications are welcomed from programs in all countries, this year we are especially keen to see applications to work with\u00a0<em>Atelopus<\/em>\u00a0species, in support of the Atelopus Survival Initiative (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.atelopus.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.atelopus.org<\/a>). We are also keen to see applications for extension <a title=\"Wild Animal Small Grants Program\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/wild-animal-small-grants-program\">grants from any existing\u00a0<em>ex situ<\/em>\u00a0program<\/a>. Some new guidelines and requirements for grant recipients have recently been included, so please be sure to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amphibianark.org\/grant-guidelines\/\">read the guidelines<\/a>\u00a0carefully<\/strong>. Download the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amphibianark.org\/grants\/AArk-Conservation-Grants.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">complete guidelines here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Our grants are intended to support conservation projects for amphibian species that cannot currently be saved in the wild, <strong>with a focus on\u00a0<em>ex situ<\/em>\u00a0actions<\/strong>, and in partnership with appropriate field activities. Preference will be given to projects for species which have been assessed as in need of\u00a0<em>ex situ<\/em>\u00a0rescue or research work, either as a recommendation from a Conservation Needs Assessment (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservationneeds.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">www.conservationneeds.org<\/a>) or a similar, national assessment process.***<\/p>\n<p>These <a title=\"Call for proposals to support Africa\u2019s Science Granting Councils in funding and managing research and innovation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-proposals-to-support-africas-science-granting-councils-in-funding-and-managing-research-and-innovation\">grants are\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0intended to fund:<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Educational exhibits<\/li>\n<li>Project overheard or indirect costs<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Support for Field-Based Research Projects 2025\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/support-for-field-based-research-projects-2025\">Field projects<\/a> without a strong\u00a0<em>ex situ<\/em>\u00a0component<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We will be accepting funding <a title=\"Call for Applications: Consultancy services on drivers of forest cover change and loss in different forest types in Africa\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-applications-consultancy-services-on-drivers-of-forest-cover-change-and-loss-in-different-forest-types-in-africa\">applications for the following types<\/a> of grants:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Start-up grants<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 <a title=\"Climate Technology Initiative \u2014 Funding for Climate or Clean Energy Projects\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/climate-technology-initiative-funding-for-climate-or-clean-energy-projects\">initial funding to help newly-launched projects<\/a> get started at the very beginning of their life, to help them attract larger and\/or long-term funding for the duration of the program<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>One-time grants of up to US$5,000 are available. Recipients are able to apply for second and third year extension grants.\u00a0<strong>A Project Outline (see below) must be submitted prior to your application.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Program extension grants<\/strong><a title=\"Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund \u2014 Grants in Support of Endangered and Critically Endangered Species\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/mohamed-bin-zayed-species-conservation-fund-grants-in-support-of-endangered-and-critically-endangered-species\">\u00a0\u2013 additional funds are available to provide continued support for projects for high priority species<\/a> that a) have met their stated objectives for previous years, and b) can demonstrate that additional supplemental funds have been secured since the program began. It is expected that husbandry guidelines and a species <a title=\"National Bamboo Development Strategy and Action Plan\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/development-of-the-national-bamboo-development-strategy-and-action-plan\">action plan<\/a> have been completed. Second-year grants of up to US$4,000 and third-year grants of up to US$3,000 are available.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Workshop attendance<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 partial funding to assist attendance at\u00a0<em>ex situ<\/em>\u00a0amphibian conservation-related workshops, especially those which focus on amphibian husbandry, planning and reintroduction. Applicants must have already secured partial funding to attend the workshop. You must already be actively involved in an amphibian conservation project or have well-developed plans and funding in place to implement a new program Grants of up to US$750 are available.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mentorship grants<\/strong><a title=\"Research Support Grants\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/research-support-grants\">\u00a0\u2013 support<\/a> for organizations which have previously received an AArk seed or start-up grant, to bring in a designated outside expert to assist with an aspect of their amphibian conservation efforts (e.g. veterinary training, environmental control etc.). Grants up to US$1,500 are available.\u00a0<strong>A Project Outline (see below) must be submitted prior to your application.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Workshop support grants<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 support for organizations which are planning an in-person amphibian conservation-related workshop or symposium, especially those which focus on amphibian husbandry, planning and reintroduction. Applicants must have already secured partial funding for the workshop, and the dates and location for the workshop should have been publicly announced. Grants up to US$2,500 are available.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emergency grants<\/strong><a title=\"Small Grants Program\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/small-grants-program\">\u00a0\u2013 limited funding is available\u00a0 throughout the year for emergency situations such as unanticipated major equipment failure in existing\u00a0<em>ex situ<\/em>\u00a0programs<\/a>. These <a title=\"Emerging Conservationist Grants\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/emerging-conservationist-grants\">grants are also available for the\u00a0<strong><em>ex situ<\/em>\u00a0component<\/strong>\u00a0of the emergency<\/a> rescue of wild populations facing imminent threat of extinction. Please download the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amphibianark.org\/grants\/AArk-Emergency-Grants.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Emergency Grants Guidelines<\/a>\u00a0or contact\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:grants@amphibianark.org\">grants@amphibianark.org<\/a>\u00a0at any time to discuss an emergency grant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nProject Outline<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All applicants for Start-up <a title=\"Reversing Environmental Degradation in Africa and Asia \u2014 Project Grants\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/reversing-environmental-degradation-in-africa-and-asia-project-grants\">Grants or Mentorship Grants are required to submit a brief Project<\/a> Outline, prior to submitting a full application. Ideally, your Project Outline should be in English or Spanish, but it can be submitted in any language. It should be less than 400 words in length, and should contain information under the following headings: Species, Organization, <a title=\"Vacancy: Research Project Manager\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/vacancy-research-project-manager\">Project Manager<\/a>, Previous amphibian husbandry experience, Goals, Proposed outcomes, Other funding sources (both requested and received) and the status of a Species Action or Recovery Plan for the species (including authors of the plan). Project Outlines for start-up grants from institutions with limited amphibian expertise\u00a0<strong>must<\/strong>\u00a0include a copy of the report from the Institutional Program Implementation Tool (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amphibianark.org\/program-implementation-tool\/\">www.amphibianark.org\/program-implementation-tool\/<\/a>) for the species at your institution. Your final application should address any shortfalls highlighted within the tool.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Invitation for Students to Apply to Project Green Course\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/invitation-for-students-to-apply-to-project-green-course\">Project Outlines will be reviewed and successful applicants will then be invited<\/a> to submit a full application.\u00a0<em><strong>Full applications will not be accepted without a Project Outline having been submitted and approved by the review committee.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Full applications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"African Elephant Conservation Fund invites project proposal\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/african-elephant-conservation-fund-invites-project-proposal\">Project Outlines which have been approved by our review committee will receive an invitation to submit a Full Proposal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guidelines and requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All applications must reflect AArk values.\u00a0<strong>Please pay careful attention to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amphibianark.org\/grant-guidelines\/\">grant guidelines<\/a>, and address all of the appropriate items.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements from grant recipients<br \/>\n<\/strong>Recipients of AArk grants are required to:<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide bank account details for the institution to the AArk within two weeks of being notified of grant approval.<\/li>\n<li>Return the <a title=\"Liberia: EPA, Yale University Sign Biodiversity Conservation Agreement\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/liberia-epa-yale-university-sign-biodiversity-conservation-agreement\">signed Memorandum of Agreement<\/a> (MOU) between the director of the recipient institution and the AArk within two weeks of being notified of grant approval. A copy of the MOU can be seen\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amphibianark.org\/grants\/AArk-Grant-MOU.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Supply 3-4 photos of <a title=\"Species Conservation Grant\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/species-conservation-grant\">species and\/or facilities for announcement of grant<\/a> winners<\/li>\n<li>Send a brief progress report (e.g. newsletter article) and photos six months after funding received.<\/li>\n<li>Produce husbandry guidelines within six months of acquiring animals (using the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amphibianark.org\/pdf\/AArk-WAZA-Husbandry-Guidelines-template-English.doc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amphibian Husbandry Guidelines template<\/a>). Existing examples are available on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amphibianark.org\/husbandry-documents\/\">Husbandry Documents<\/a>\u00a0page for reference.<\/li>\n<li>Submit a draft (or complete) <a title=\"Multi-stakeholder workshop for the National Bamboo Development Strategy and Action Plan\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/multi-stakeholder-workshop-for-the-national-bamboo-development-strategy-and-action-plan\">action plan<\/a> six months after funding received.<\/li>\n<li>Send a final progress <a title=\"Stanford Law School Policy Lab and Bezos Earth Fund report recommends climate-smart forestry practices\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/stanford-law-school-policy-lab-and-bezos-earth-fund-report-recommends-climate-smart-forestry-practices\">report twelve months after funding<\/a> received.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nApplication submissions<br \/>\n<\/strong>Ideally, grants should be submitted at least one week before the deadline, so they can be reviewed, and returned for alterations if needed. Grants submitted on the due date cannot be modified and will be accepted as is.
