The successful candidate will commence their role as a research and teaching assistant in Fall 2024, with a funded stipend and tuition. This assistantship will be dedicated to researching barriers that impede people from diverse cultural backgrounds to recreate in <a title=\"Restoring degraded forest landscapes in Rwanda\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/restoring-degraded-forest-landscapes-in-rwanda\">forest landscapes<\/a> in Oregon. The <a title=\"Consultancy services on assessment of forest planning and management in different forest types in selected African countries\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/consultancy-services-on-assessment-of-forest-planning-and-management-in-different-forest-types-in-selected-african-countries\">selected candidate will be able to work in a dynamic team fostering more inclusive forest<\/a> recreation in Oregon. We seek a candidate with a strong educational background, <a title=\"Field practical training on entomology \u2013 hands-on learning experience with insects\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/field-practical-training-on-entomology-hands-on-learning-experience-with-insects\">practical field experience<\/a>, a solid foundation in social science research, advanced quantitative skills, and a proven track record of scholarly contributions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Responsibilities<\/strong> <em>Required Qualifications:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>Master&#8217;s degree:<\/u> Possession of a graduate degree in a field aligned with parks and outdoor recreation.<\/li>\n<li><u>Field research experience:<\/u> Demonstrable hands-on experience conducting field research within parks and outdoor recreation, showcasing a <a title=\"Field practical Training in Wetlands Conservation at Tarangire National Park\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/ichthyology-conservation-of-wetlands-ichthyology-at-tarangire-national-park\">practical understanding of field<\/a> research challenges and dynamics.<\/li>\n<li><u>Social <a title=\"FBE 601 Research Methods in Ecosystem Sciences\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/study\/fbe-601-research-methods-in-ecosystem-sciences\">science research<\/a> expertise:<\/u> A demonstrated track record of excellence in social science research, underscoring the understanding of processes and complexities inherent in social science studies.<\/li>\n<li><u>Quantitative <a title=\"Spatial Data Scientist\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/spatial-data-scientist\">data<\/a> analysis skills:<\/u> Proficiency in quantitative data analysis, showcasing tangible skills and knowledge needed to interpret and draw meaningful insights from the data collected.<\/li>\n<li><u>Publication in a peer-reviewed journal:<\/u> Applicant must have at least one first-author publication in a peerreviewed journal, reflecting the candidate&#8217;s capacity to make valuable scholarly contributions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Desired Qualifications:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in <a title=\"Research Grants 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/research-grants-2023-2\">research grant<\/a> writing.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrable interest in advancing inclusive outdoor recreation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply:<br \/>\n<\/strong>If you are an interested and qualified candidate, please email Dr. Ian Munanura at <u>ian.munanura@oregonstate.edu<\/u> to express your interest.
