FOLT is headquartered in Katumbi Village in Uvinza District, Kigoma Region. FOLT\u2019s mission is to end extreme poverty, hunger and <a title=\"Reversing Environmental Degradation in Africa and Asia \u2014 Project Grants\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/reversing-environmental-degradation-in-africa-and-asia-project-grants\">environmental degradation<\/a> across the Lake Tanganyika Basin by providing local communities access to equitable use of natural resources and how to sustainably manage those resources. FOLT envisions a sound Lake Tanganyika basin where people and nature thrive together.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>The Mahale Mountains Agroforestry Project<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FOLT, in partnership with the Belgian NGO WeForest, is planning to implement the 6-year Mahale Mountains Agroforestry Project. The project\u2019s main goal is to reduce pressure on natural forests and improve the living conditions of smallholder farmers in Uvinza District in the Greater Mahale Ecosystem (GME) through the establishment of <a title=\"Agroforestry Group to Attend International Agarwood Conference ISSA 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/agroforestry-group-to-attend-international-agarwood-conference-issa-2023\">agroforestry<\/a> systems on 2,500 smallholders hectares from 2024 to 2029.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 1: <a title=\"Farming by Committee: How We Organize Our Agroforestry Co-op\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/farming-by-committee-how-we-organize-our-agroforestry-co-op\">Agroforestry Systems: <\/a><\/strong>To establish agroforestry systems and other tree crops with smallholder farmers to decrease pressure on natural forests by increasing farm productivity and tree cover in the landscape.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 2: Livelihoods:<\/strong> To increase and sustain production of food, fodder and fuelwood for household consumption and potentially support the <a title=\"Value chain development for selected forest-based products to enhance community livelihoods\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/value-chain-development-for-selected-forest-based-products-to-enhance-community-livelihoods\">development of top agricultural value chains<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 3: Environmental Education:<\/strong> To sensitize project communities on <a title=\"Call for consultancy services: recruitment of experts to review and synthesise information on the nexus between climate change, forests and trees\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-consultancy-services-recruitment-of-experts-to-review-and-synthesise-information-on-the-nexus-between-climate-change-forests-and-trees\">climate change and forest<\/a> and landscape restoration to conserve natural resources such as fishing and chimpanzee habitat; as well as build interest and commitment in participating in the agroforestry project activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Responsibilities<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Core duties include, but are not limited to, the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keeping accurate records for all financial transactions<\/li>\n<li>Preparing balance sheets<\/li>\n<li>Processing invoices<\/li>\n<li>Recording accounts payable and accounts receivable<\/li>\n<li>Updating internal systems with financial <a title=\"Spatial Data Scientist\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/spatial-data-scientist\">data<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual <a title=\"Report Urges Financial Sector to Take Action and Reverse Biodiversity Loss\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/report-urges-financial-sector-to-take-action-and-reverse-biodiversity-loss\">financial reports<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Reconciling bank statements<\/li>\n<li>Participating in financial audits<\/li>\n<li>Tracking bank deposits and payments<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with budget preparation<\/li>\n<li>Reviewing and <a title=\"National Beekeeping Policy Implementation Strategy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/national-beekeeping-policy-implementation-strategy\">implementing financial policies<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Required Attributes<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Focused, disciplined and determined<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivated<\/li>\n<li>Structured and analytic mindset<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Calling for innovative ocean-minded startups\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/calling-for-innovative-ocean-minded-startups\">Innovative<\/a> and collaborative<\/li>\n<li>Patient and flexible, particularly in cross-cultural environments<\/li>\n<li>Work well under tight deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Good interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to the mission and vision of both FOLT and WeForest<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Required Qualifications<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diploma or <a title=\"New degree programme \u2013 Bachelor of Science Bee Resources Management\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/bachelor-of-science-bee-resources-management\">bachelor\u2019s degree<\/a> in finance, accounting, or economics<\/li>\n<li>Minimum five years as a financial officer (international organization preferred)<\/li>\n<li>Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures<\/li>\n<li>Experience using financial software<\/li>\n<li>Advanced MS Excel skills<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of financial regulations<\/li>\n<li>Excellent analytical and numerical skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent time management skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong ethics, with an ability to <a title=\"Global Biodiversity Information Facility \u2014 Management of Specimen Data\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/global-biodiversity-information-facility-management-of-specimen-data\">manage confidential data<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fluent in English and Swahili (both speaking and writing)<\/li>\n<li>In possession of a driving license, experience with driving motorbikes and other vehicles is considered a plus<\/li>\n<li>Flexible in terms of traveling, living condition and work hours<\/li>\n<li>Must be a citizen of <a title=\"New publication: Predicting the distribution of critically endangered tree species Karomia gigas under climate change in Tanzania\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/new-publication-predicting-the-distribution-of-critically-endangered-tree-species-karomia-gigas-under-climate-change-in-tanzania\">Tanzania<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Terms &amp;
