FOLT is headquartered in Katumbi Village in Uvinza District, Kigoma Region. FOLT\u2019s mission is to end extreme poverty, hunger and environmental degradation across the Lake Tanganyika Basin by providing local communities access to equitable use of natural resources and how to sustainably manage those resources. FOLT envisions a sound Lake Tanganyika basin where people and nature thrive together.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Mahale Mountains Agroforestry Project<br \/>\n<\/strong>FOLT, in partnership with the Belgian NGO WeForest, is planning to implement the 6-year Mahale Mountains Agroforestry Project. The project\u2019s main goal is to reduce pressure on natural forests and improve the living conditions of smallholder farmers in Uvinza District in the Greater Mahale Ecosystem (GME) through the establishment of <a title=\"Agroforestry Group to Attend International Agarwood Conference ISSA 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/agroforestry-group-to-attend-international-agarwood-conference-issa-2023\">agroforestry<\/a> systems on 2,500 smallholders hectares from 2024 to 2029.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 1: <a title=\"Farming by Committee: How We Organize Our Agroforestry Co-op\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/farming-by-committee-how-we-organize-our-agroforestry-co-op\">Agroforestry Systems: <\/a><\/strong>To establish agroforestry systems and other tree crops with smallholder farmers to decrease pressure on natural forests by increasing farm productivity and tree cover in the landscape.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 2: Livelihoods:<\/strong> To increase and <a title=\"FBA 605: Productivity, Improvement and Sustainability in Agroforestry Systems\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/study\/fba-605-productivity-improvement-and-sustainability-in-agroforestry-systems\">sustain production<\/a> of food, fodder and fuelwood for household consumption and potentially support the development of top agricultural value chains.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 3: Environmental Education:<\/strong> To sensitize project communities on <a title=\"Call for consultancy services: recruitment of experts to review and synthesise information on the nexus between climate change, forests and trees\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-consultancy-services-recruitment-of-experts-to-review-and-synthesise-information-on-the-nexus-between-climate-change-forests-and-trees\">climate change and forest<\/a> and landscape restoration to conserve natural resources such as fishing and chimpanzee habitat; as well as build interest and commitment in participating in the agroforestry project activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Core duties include, but are not limited to, the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Directly supervise the Financial Officer, M&amp;E Officer, Agroforestry Extensionists and <a title=\"Field Practical Training: Tree nursery management &amp; propagation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/field-practical-training-tree-nursery-management-propagation\">Nursery Managers<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Call for Project Grant 2021: Sustainable development and climate change.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-project-grant-2021-sustainable-development-and-climate-change\">Develop and sustain<\/a> all local, national or international government and nongovernmental partnerships<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Call for consultancy services on developing a partnership policy for the African Forest Forum (AFF)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-consultancy-services-on-developing-a-partnership-policy-for-the-african-forest-forum-aff\">Develop and supervise compliance with organizational policies<\/a> and procedures<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"LIVELIHOODS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MANAGER\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/livelihoods-and-community-development-manager\">Develop and manage<\/a> all intervention strategies and methodologies<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate all agroforestry activities within <a title=\"Call for Projects 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-projects-2023\">project<\/a> villages, including nursery staff and operations<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate the procurement of all items for the agroforestry program and <a title=\"What we owe our trees\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/what-we-owe-our-trees\">tree<\/a> nursery<\/li>\n<li>Produce quality deliverables on time to ensure they meet milestones per their scope, timeline, and budget<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate and oversee the <a title=\"Grants for Environmental Education\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/grants-for-environmental-education\">environmental education<\/a> program<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate the selection and organization of farmer groups<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate internal and external training workshops for farmer groups<\/li>\n<li>Lead on <a title=\"Value chain development for selected forest-based products to enhance community livelihoods\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/value-chain-development-for-selected-forest-based-products-to-enhance-community-livelihoods\">value chain development for selected<\/a> cash crops<\/li>\n<li>Provide regular detailed technical, <a title=\"Report Urges Financial Sector to Take Action and Reverse Biodiversity Loss\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/report-urges-financial-sector-to-take-action-and-reverse-biodiversity-loss\">financial and programmatic reporting<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Prepare all annual budgets and workplans<\/li>\n<li>Assist in <a title=\"Launching of the Development Corridors Partnership (DCP) Project in Tanzania\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/launching-of-the-development-corridors-partnership-dcp-project-in-tanzania\">developing possible new phases of the project<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Represent and advocate for the project in various events or activities as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <a title=\"New degree programme \u2013 Bachelor of Science Bee Resources Management\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/bachelor-of-science-bee-resources-management\">bachelor&#8217;s degree in the natural sciences<\/a>, agroforestry, forestry, natural resource management, rural development, project management or related field<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of 5 years\u2019 project management experience leading a team working with smallholder farmers in <a title=\"New publication: Predicting the distribution of critically endangered tree species Karomia gigas under climate change in Tanzania\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/new-publication-predicting-the-distribution-of-critically-endangered-tree-species-karomia-gigas-under-climate-change-in-tanzania\">Tanzania<\/a> (international NGO preferrable)<\/li>\n<li>Experience working closely with <a title=\"Local Project Support\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/local-project-support\">local government offices and village leadership in rural development programs\/ projects<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Experience in building complex program strategies<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive manner<\/li>\n<li>Experience in <a title=\"Developing curricula for biodiversity monitoring and conservation in Tanzania (CONTAN)\"
