The main aim of sub-project 9 is to determine the <a title=\"New publication: Factors influencing community\u2019s adoption of domestic water conservation measures\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/new-publication-factors-influencing-communitys-adoption-of-domestic-water-conservation-measures\">influence of forests on the quality and quantity of water<\/a> supply by means of an econometric analysis of the relationship between water provision costs and land use as well as other explanatory variables. In addition, the influences of the planned reforestation on recreational, <a title=\"Let\u2019s honor those who have protected Indiana\u2019s natural places through conservation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/lets-honor-those-who-have-protected-indianas-natural-places-through-conservation\">nature conservation and climate protection<\/a> services are to be estimated using an existing regional benefit transfer model.<\/p>\n<p>\u200d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Econometric analysis of the relationship between the costs of <a title=\"Water, Climate, and Biodiversity\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/water-climate-and-biodiversity\">water<\/a> provision and different forms of land use (e.g. deciduous\/coniferous <a title=\"Science without Borders Challenge 2024\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/science-without-borders-challenge-2024\">forest<\/a>, conventional\/ecological agriculture; sealed area, etc.) in the Harz Mountains (regression analysis)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Extension of the analysis to all of Germany<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 <a title=\"Forest Farm Producers in Nepal discussed to up-scale the best climate change adaptation practices\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/forest-farm-producers-in-nepal-discussed-to-up-scale-the-best-climate-change-adaptation-practices\">Adaptation<\/a> of the Institute&#8217;s existing multiple benefit transfer model &#8220;ReWaLe&#8221; to the situation in the Harz Mountains and economic evaluation of the impacts of reforestation on recreational, nature conservation and climate protection services<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Presentation of results at work meetings and conferences<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Preparation of project reports and scientific <a title=\"New publication\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/new-publication\">publications<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u200d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Professional profile:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Completed university degree (Univ. diploma\/M.Sc.) in general economics, applied economic disciplines, <a title=\"PhD scholarship in Forest Sciences and Climate change\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/phd-scholarship-in-forest-sciences-and-climate-change\">forest sciences<\/a> or related fields; preferably with a relevant doctorate (not mandatory).<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Knowledge of and experience with quantitative-statistical assessment methods, including statistical modeling<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Sound knowledge and <a title=\"Beekeeping Field Practical Training in Arusha: Hands-on experience in apiary management\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/beekeeping-field-practical-training-in-arusha-hands-on-experience-in-apiary-management\">experience in geodata management<\/a> and geostatistics, preferably using Access and ArcGIS<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 <a title=\"Managing the Eastern Arc Mountain forests for Carbon credits and emission trading; Local knowledge and climate change adaptation project (2007 \u2013 to date).\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/research\/managing-the-eastern-arc-mountain-forests-for-carbon-credits-and-emission-trading-local-knowledge-and-climate-change-adaptation-project-2007-to-date\">Knowledge of forest<\/a> economics is an advantage, but not mandatory<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Background knowledge on the scientific basis of the concept of <a title=\"Ecosystem Services\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/ecosystem-services\">ecosystem services<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u200d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personal profile:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Team spirit, flexibility, ability to work under pressure and interest in scientific work<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Ability and willingness to work independently and cooperate in an interdisciplinary team<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Willingness to travel on business<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the employment relationship, there is also the <a title=\"Doctoral Student Assistantship Opportunity in Forest Recreation Research at Oregon State University\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/doctoral-student-assistantship-opportunity-in-forest-recreation-research-at-oregon-state-university\">opportunity to do a doctorate at a German university<\/a>.
