Projects have to focus on charismatic threatened wildlife and their habitats, with a particular concern for marine chondrichthyan species (sharks, rays, skates, sawfishes, and chimaeras). The usual <a title=\"Call for Projects 2023\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-projects-2023\">project<\/a> duration is limited to three years with a grant average of US$25 thousand per year. The next application period (Stage I) is 03 May 2024.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/saveourseas.com\/grants\/funding-applications\/keystone-grants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Keystone Grants<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\"><strong>Current <a title=\"The 2nd window of application for the year 2023\/2024 admission cycle is now open\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/the-2nd-window-of-application-for-the-year-2023-2024-admission-cycle-is-now-open\">application window<\/a> (online form):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">Stage I:\u00a0opened on March 13, 2024 (for a duration of 7 weeks). The submission deadline is May 3, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. CET.<br \/>\nStage II:\u00a0if your stage I application is successful, \u00a0you will be invited to submit your stage II application in June.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">The Save Our Seas Foundation (SOSF) is committed to <a title=\"Protected and Conserved Area Fund\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/protected-and-conserved-area-fund\">protecting our oceans by funding<\/a> and supporting research, conservation and education projects worldwide, focusing primarily on threatened marine wildlife and their habitats. Only projects concerned with marine chondrichthyan species (sharks, rays, skates, sawfishes and chimaeras) will be considered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">The funding cycle is biennial, with the <a title=\"Research Grants for Field Research 2024\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/research-grants-for-field-research-2024\">grant<\/a> application window opening in even years (2022, 2024, 2026, etc.), and the grant covering the period from March 2025 to June 2026, for example. Funds are allocated on an annual basis, with the option to <a title=\"Darwin Initiative: funding schemes and how to apply\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/darwin-initiative-funding-schemes-and-how-to-apply\">apply for continued funding<\/a> every year. The usual <a title=\"Trends and projections: limited rebound in EU emissions amid post-pandemic recovery and energy crisis\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/trends-and-projections-limited-rebound-in-eu-emissions-amid-post-pandemic-recovery-and-energy-crisis\">project duration is limited<\/a> to three years. Grants average 25,000 USD per annum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application process<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Keystone Grant application process consists\u00a0of a\u00a0two-stage\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/saveourseasgrants.smapply.io\/\"><strong>online<\/strong>\u00a0application<\/a>: Stage I involves completing a short online form, equivalent to 4-6 pages. Stage II, by invitation only based on the Stage I application, will involve the completion of a longer and more detailed online form, equivalent to 10-12 pages.<\/li>\n<li>It is the policy of the SOSF to provide, where practicable, a degree of continuing <a title=\"CFPs: ProBioDev Program to support Projects focused on Biodiversity Conservation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/cfps-probiodev-program-to-support-projects-focused-on-biodiversity-conservation\">support to the projects<\/a> it is funding; the leaders of such projects may be invited by the SOSF to complete an application for a continuation grant in the coming year.<\/li>\n<li>Only one application will be accepted from any one applicant.<\/li>\n<li>If a <a title=\"Call for Project Grant 2021: Sustainable development and climate change.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cfwt.sua.ac.tz\/ecosystems\/news\/call-for-project-grant-2021-sustainable-development-and-climate-change\">project leader has an SOSF Keystone Grant<\/a>, he\/she cannot apply for a new grant.<\/li>\n<li>All applications will be reviewed by the SOSF scientific committee and require final approval from the Foundation\u2019s Board of Directors.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">Please read the\u00a0<a title=\"Funding guidelines\" href=\"https:\/\/saveourseas.com\/funding\/funding-guidelines\/\">funding guidelines<\/a>\u00a0carefully.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">Budget template [<a href=\"https:\/\/saveourseas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/budget-spreadsheet-template-for-keystone-2025.xlsx\">Excel<\/a>]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Save Our Seas Foundation funds and supports marine and ocean research, conservation, and education projects worldwide.
