Switzerland Development Cooperation (SDC)<\/a>\u00a0has collaborated with a non-governmental organization, Tesifa Tanzania (TT) through the Skills for Employment in Tanzania (SET) program to uplift the dreams of young girls in Tanzania between the ages of 15-20 whose dreams were cut short due to early birth and later abandonment by their partners.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prof. Felister Mombo<\/a> from Sokoine University of Agriculture speaking to the young women in one of the programs meeting<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The program director, Jasca Leons Punguti,<\/a> said that “we are creating opportunities for young people in Tanzania to be self-reliant.” The SET program targets youth aged 15-24, especially young mothers who have left the education system.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Swiss Cooperation Programme<\/a> 2021-2025 supports Tanzania’s process towards an equitable and stable middle-income country and empowers young people to advance socially and economically, especially supporting impoverished women, as the main driver of change to contribute to regional stability and prosperity<\/span>.<\/span><\/span> Prof. Felister Mombo from the department of Forest and Environmental Economics<\/a> at Sokoine University of Agriculture also took part in the program to serve as an inspiration to the young female targeted group.<\/span><\/p>\n
