Biography:

Sayuni is a holder of Ph.D. in Environment and Development from Norwegian University of Life Sciences, MSc in Management of Natural Resources for Sustainable Agriculture, and BSc in Wildlife Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture. She is involved in teaching various courses related to natural resources management, environment and development. Current project is investigating the socio-economic impacts of uranium mining in protected areas. Recent research has focused on protected areas and people, where she specifically examined local participation and benefit sharing, impacts of conservation on people, local people’s attitudes towards conservation, and environmental conflicts.Some of her research interests include: management and conservation of natural resources and biodiversity (in relation to gender, governance, use, control and distributional aspects, conflicts and power), nature based tourism, climate change, and adaptation strategies.
