Biography:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Amani Kitegile is a lecturer in the department of wildlife management at Sokoine University of Agriculture. After completing his Master\u2019s degree, Amani started pursue career in wildlife research with special interest in primates. Amani has more than 9 years\u2019 experience of conducting researches in wildlife. Since 2006 Amani has successfully worked in collaboration with both local and international researchers in various projects. He is among the authors of \u201c<\/span>The Critical Endangered Kipunji (<\/span><\/b>Rungwecebus kipunji<\/span><\/i>) of Southern Tanzania; First Census and Conservation status assessment<\/span><\/b>\u201d the first paper to publish precise results on population status of newly discovered primate genus <\/span>Rungwecebus.<\/span><\/i> Currently Amani is a co-researcher at Animal Behavior Research Unit (ABRU), Mikumi National Park; and a PhD fellow at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge UK.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Research interest<\/span><\/span><\/b>:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I am interested in working on wildlife researches particularly in Animal behavior, especially primates to be precise.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>So far I have already conducted a number of researches in this area, including \u201c Food competition among the primates of Gombe National Park\u201d ( I did it as my undergraduate special project);<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>\u201cHabitat use and Conservation status of Blue Monkeys and Black and White Colobus Monkeys , in Amani nature Reserve (For my MSc Thesis).<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>I have also worked on \u201cPopulation status of newly discovered primates species, <\/span>Rungwecebus kipunji<\/span><\/i>; Primate monitoring in the Udzungwa Mountains; and currently I am working on Foraging habit and sexual segregation in yellow baboons in Mikumi National Park.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Studies in primates\u2019 behavior are very important and better understanding of their behavior help a lot in understanding human social life and behavior.<\/span>
