BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. Beatus John Temu is a Forest Economist working at the Department of Forest and Environmental Economics, Sokoine University of Agriculture. He holds a PhD and MSc. degree in Forestry (Economics) and BSc. degree in Wildlife Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro, Tanzania. He also holds a certificate on Gender, Development, and Environmental Governance from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Uppsala, Sweden. Prior to working at SUA, Dr. Temu worked for 7 years with Green Resources AS (GRAS)- a Norwegian forest management company operating in Tanzania, Uganda and Mozambique as Operations Manager at Tanga Forests Ltd (a subsidiary company of GRAS) and as a Research and Monitoring officer at Green Resources Ltd (a subsidiary company of GRAS).

January 2017- December, 2021: WoodCluster Project: Focused on Narrowing the East African Wood Supply Gap: Research and Teaching for national Bio-Economies based on Farm-Wood-Production. Funded by German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF).

October, 2019 to December, 2021: Facilitated Estimation of the Tanzanian Forest Sector Contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Funded by Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Forestry and Beekeeping Division, Tanzania.

January, 2019: Facilitated Evaluation of Agriculture and Forest Sector Programmes in Africa, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland.

January, 2018 to June 2018: Facilitated Diagnostic Studies on Conservation of Wildlife Corridors and Selected Wetlands at Kilombero Ramsar Site, Tanzania.  Contracted by Ambero Consultants, as Rural Survey Specialist, Project funded by Beligium Technical Cooperation (BTC), Tanzania.

October, 2017: Facilitated Cluster Analysis on Investment Opportunities in the Tanzanian Forest Industry and Bioenergy Sectors for the Private Forestry Programme. Contracted by Indufor Oy, a Forest Intelligence, as Forestry Expert. Project funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland in Collaboration with the United Republic of Tanzania, Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.
