SUA Best Employee: Winners Emphasize Dedication, Innovation, and Responsibility

All Employees Required to Recognize that the Position of Best Employee is Part of Selection, Not Something One is Born With

Speaking to the selected best employees, academics, and administrators at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) during a meeting to elect the Best Employee of the University who will represent the University at the regional level, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Planning, Finance and Administration, Prof. Amandus Muhairwa, said that he himself has never been a best employee since he started working there for about 31 years, and he does not see that as taking away his ability to continue working diligently. “There are people who get frustrated when they miss the opportunity to be the Best Employee and decide to become resentful, causing problems like filing complaints. Such a person is called a troublemaker and may have psychological issues… I think an employee should do their work with professionalism without complaining,” said Prof. Muhairwa.

At the same time, 36 best employees, including academics and administrators from SUA, participated in electing the University’s number one and number two best employees who will represent the University at the regional level.

Winners Emphasize Dedication, Innovation, and Responsibility

For his part, the First Winner in this election, Mr. Kundansen Swai, said that his victory was due to his assistance to the University in ensuring that every employee submits their reports in the new PEPMIS system, which he used even at night to ensure that everyone successfully fills in their information, and he urges all employees to be dedicated, punctual, love their work, and be accountable regardless of pay.

Dr. Alcardo Barakabize, a Lecturer from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment at SUA, who emerged as the second winner to represent the University, said that due to his dedication, innovation in work, publication of papers, and participation in various projects, he has earned the reputation to hold this position, and he promises to continue working diligently for the benefit of the University and the nation as a whole.
