First Year BSc. (WTVA) (2021/22) conducted a field excursion to Mtibwa Sugar Company Ltd. which is located in Mvomero District in Morogroro Region.

The company grows sugar cane and manufactures sugar from this biomass, and the left-over (bagasse) and fire wood are used for energy production which is used for heating and generation of electricity. Students were able to identify the biomass used and estimate their volumes per annum and very importantly advise on resource conservation and value addition on the biomass used by the Company.
