We are delighted to share the success of our recent staff exchange visit to Coventry University, focusing on agroecological systems and rural development as part of the UNDERTREES project.
During this enriching engagement, our team actively participated in scientific writing for articles and books, joined field visits, and built meaningful connections with fellow scholars. Discussions held at Coventry University’s Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR) and Queen’s University through the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) provided invaluable insights that furthered our academic and professional growth.
Our staff who participated in the exchange program includes:
- Prof. Felister Mombo, Dr. Sayuni Mariki, and Mr. Qambemeda Masala (PhD student) from the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism.
- Dr. Eliapenda Elisante, Dr. Imelda Gervan, Prof. Msafiri Mkonda, and Ms. Debora Magesa from the College of Natural and Applied Science.
- Mr. Shadrack Kihwele, a PhD student from the Department of Crop Science and Horticulture.
- Mr. Philipo Abihudi from Sokoine National Agricultural Library.
This exchange was a remarkable opportunity for learning, collaboration, and advancing agroecological research. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to:
✅ The European Union, for generously funding the UNDERTREES project. ✅ Coventry University & Queen’s University through AFBI, for their warm hospitality and invaluable contributions. ✅ Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and the Government of Tanzania, for granting permission and supporting this international engagement.
As we move forward, we remain committed to applying the knowledge and experiences gained to drive impactful change in rural development and agroecological practices.
Stay tuned for more updates on our research and collaborations!
