The Tourism Management programme equips the students with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude needed to transform the challenges of the 21st century into business opportunities and socially responsible enterprises in the field of travel, tourism, leisure, and recreation.

What makes the BTM unique:

  • a long tradition of highly rated education, outreach and research in leisure, recreation and tourism areas.
  • offers practical experience through field attachment, research projects and regular excursions.
  • it provides the students with the necessary competence in tourism product development and events planning and management, tourism & recreation planning, wildlife-based tourism, ecotourism and sustainable tourism, among others.

 

 

 

  • Bachelor of Tourism Management is a three year  programme, starting every year in October. The programme consists of course work, field attachment and a research project. Generally, the first two years are entirely dedicated to course work and the third year is split between course work and research project. Field experiences are normally conducted annually between July and September, the period which coincide with the high tourist season in the country.Career options range from tourism policy and planning in tourism agencies,   setting up cultural tourism enterprises, running a tour and travel company, working in NGO’s and international organizations, manage leisure and recreation sites,  or plan and manage various events. There are 14 teaching and 2 support staff in the Department.
