Technical Workshop on plantation mapping methodology

On Monday 10th June 2019 College of Forest Wildlife and Tourism (CFWT) hosted a technical workshop to discuss plantation mapping methodologies at the National Carbon Monitoring Center.

The workshop was conducted by four partner institutions including Forest Development Trust, University of Turku -Finland, Sokoine University of Agriculture and Forest and Beekeeping Division. The main objective was to discuss methodology for mapping plantation forests  in Southern Highlands of Tanzania. The workshop was chaired by Director of Forest and Beekeeping Division Dr. Ezekiel Mwakalukwa and assisted by Dr. Samora Andrew Macrice from Department of Ecosystems and Conservation (DEC).

During the workshop two teams (Turku-SUA-PFP and FDT) involved in plantation mapping   presented there methodologies and findings. Follow up with a very long discussion from participants until the decisions made.

At the end of workshop the two methodologies were harmonized and one precise methodology was developed. The final methodology will be submitted to Director of Forest and Beekeeping Division for further actions.
