BEVAC improves market access for Tanzanian beekeeping.

The Beekeeping Value Chain Support (BEVAC) project, which is funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the Belgian Development Agency (Enabel) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), has made a noteworthy contribution to enhancing market access for the Tanzanian beekeeping sector. As part of its efforts, the project sponsored a dedicated booth for honey at the 47th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF).

Under the theme “Honey is a national treasure,” the booth serves as a platform for 21 companies actively involved in beekeeping, trade, and export across various regions of Tanzania. These regions include Tabora, Singida, Shinyanga, Kigoma, Katavi, Pemba North, and Pemba South.

The participation of the beekeeping sector at the trade fair is made possible with the support of the ITC through the BEVAC project. Aina Dallo, the national technical advisor for the BEVAC project, highlighted that the project’s objective is to facilitate the showcasing of Tanzanian bee products and expand their market reach. Dallo emphasized the significant opportunity presented by the trade fair to increase the visibility of Tanzanian bee products and to access both local and international markets. The event attracts consumers from various global regions, making it an ideal platform for promoting Tanzanian honey and other bee products.

The Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair serves as a gathering point for both local and international exhibitors, providing an invaluable opportunity for diverse sectors of the economy to thrive. This platform not only showcases the products and services of different industries but also fosters economic growth and facilitates networking among participants from various sectors.
