Field visit by supervisors for REFOREST PhD student

On 2nd May 2022, Supervisors Prof. Salim Maliondo (SUA), Prof. Josiah Z. Katani (SUA), Prof. Ulrik Ilstedt (Sweden-SLU) and PhD Reforest Student (Joshua S. Maguzu) visited Shume Forest Plantation and on 4th May 2022 visited Sao Hill Forest Plantation. The aim of the trip was for the supervisors to see the preliminary layout of the sample plots established by the PhD student, familiarize themselves with the study area and discuss key issues and challenges observed in the field.

Way Forward and data collection schedule

It was agreed that,

  • Actual data collection will be divided into two phases. Phase 1: will start at Sao Hill Forest Plantation from May to June 2022 and phase II be at Shume Forest Plantation (July – August 2022).
  • The candidate should provide a report to supervisors at each stage during the data collection period.
