Global Transformation of Forest for People and Climate: A Focus on West Africa

In the framework of the project “Global Transformation of Forest for People and Climate: A Focus on West Africa” funded par Sida, FAO, in collaboration with the Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food of ECOWAS (ARAA / RAAF), is pleased to announce the launch of an open and competitive call for proposals for community-based forest/land management demonstration initiatives. The project supports the implementation of the ECOWAS Forest Convergence Plan for the Sustainable Management and Use of Forest Ecosystems in West Africa.

Through this call, the project will select and support small demonstration initiatives aimed to develop, demonstrate, and share knowledge about community-based sustainable land and forest management in West Africa and highlight its potential economic, social, and environmental contributions for the benefit of the population and the global environment.

– The deadline for submission of proposals is 11 April 2021, 23:59 (GMT)

– Submissions and queries should be sent only to this mailbox: FAO-SRO-Africa-Western (FAOSFW) FAO-SFW@fao.org

– All e-mails must indicate in the subject the specific purpose to facilitate the management of correspondence and ensure respect of confidentiality:  

  • Expression of interest to submit a proposal OR
  • Request for information/clarification OR
  • Submission of a proposal. 

– Responses to single queries will be shared with all those who expressed interest in submitting a proposal.  As indicated in the invitation, kindly indicate your interest in participating using the e-mail address provided above.

– All requests for clarifications shall be submitted between 01 and 15 March 2021, 23:59 (GMT). After this date, no additional requests can be considered.

– This call for proposals is open to international or national non-governmental organizations (NGOs), non-profit groups/associations/cooperatives, or similar entities legally constituted and recognized in at least one of the 15 ECOWAS member countries.

Among other eligibility criteria described in the invitation package, proposals shall clearly explain how the planned actions to be funded are integrated into a community process and/or participatory action plan covering at least two to three subsequent years, ensuring sustainability and continuity after project support.
